Boflaten Camping: Campsite in a mountain valley

We stayed on this campsite for one night on our first visit to Norway in 2001. Beautifully situated in a mountain valley, it commands great views of the rocky mountains around it.
Close to a mountain stream and a lake, it offers good conditions for fishing. There must be a few marked trails crossing the area for we saw some hikers, some of them well past their prime, on their walking tours.
Our cabin was tiny but would have been sufficient for the two of us, especially that the weather was great and we could sit outside. We liked its appearance, the red colour it was painted in and its traditional form, with the upper part wider than the base. We liked it a little less though when we saw what it meant inside. While on one side it was just a handy shelf, the other side was a support for an upper bed fixed in this way over another wider one. Perhaps it would have been good enough for a child but I thought we were both too heavy to risk sleeping there as there was no other support. So I slept on the lower bunk and my husband on a mattress on the floor. The upper bed was so low over the one down under that getting up at night one could hit one's head on it, so only a part of it was fit to use. We paid NOK 270 for this little cabin. We had to use a communal bathroom and hot water cost NOK 10 for 5 minutes.

Unique Quality: Beautifully situated, a good starting point for hiking in the area

Veigardstranda Camping: Campsite on a river

The day we arrived on this campsite we had driven all the way from Geiranger across the mountains of Jotunheimen and needed a rest badly. We couldn't have found a better place to relax.
The reception is situated by road E16 but to get to the cabins we had to drive a few hundred metres down a road leading to the river. Our cabin was close to the river bank, although the view was obscured by caravans parked there for the winter. It was only the second fortnight of August and yet the enormous campsite was deserted with only a solitary angler at the other end of the place. I was very pleased to have the ladies' bathroom to myself.
Our cabin was spacious and well-furnished, and had a small verandah where we sat down to have our meal. The peace of the place was amazing - we could only hear the river and the wind in the trees. Since we didn't have any neighbours and the reception was high on the escarpment I felt a little uneasy when I saw the card advertising the campsite with the picture of a bear. Just in case, I asked the receptionist to give us his phone number but I needn't have worried. No one and nothing disturbed our sleep and next morning, refreshed and cheerful, we drove on towards Oslo.

Unique Quality: The campsite occupies a large area of woodland and is beautifully situated on the bank of the Begna river. Judging by the number of caravans parked there, it is probably crowded in the summer but off season, i.e. in June and starting with mid-August it's an ideal place to relax.

Nøsen Mountain hotel: Nösen Mountain Hotel

Nøsen fjellstugo is a Mountain Hotel. Like any other Norwegian Hotels outside of Oslo it's expensive. But if you want to wake up and watch the mountain view every morning, go skiing outside the guest house or you get inspiration from painting landscapes, this is the place for you to stay

There are also some less expensive opportunities here, you can choose to live in some of the small cabins connected to the hotel.

this year it's a new owner, Jarle. He has been running this place from April.

there's also a room for conferanses.

Unique Quality: Very service mindet people

Great mountain view

A great place for a bike trip

A place to play volleyball

In the near future, they're planning to rent out som e bikes, and boats.

They might be willing to transport you from Fagernes.
