An area description
I came across this very detailed description of the area surrounding Lom and it contains lots and lots of information and pictures. Have a look - it's really valuable to anybody planing to go to Jotunheimen and Lom!
An area description of Lom and Sognefjellet
Situated in Lom towncenter.
The Norwegian Mountain Museum in Lom shows the Norwegian mountain landscape and how the relationship between nature and people has developed from the earliest primitive hunting-and-trapping society to modern mass tourism, recreation and consumption.
Lom - the main gate to the Jotunheimen Mountains
"Looking at the landscape from nearby Juvasshytta"
Lom lies at a trafficjunction where much of the traffic headed for the Jotunheimen mountains comes thru. The area surrounding Lom stretches for many miles in each direction and is characterized by wild nature, wild animals, very good extreme sports opportunities, good fishing grounds, horseriding, trekking and hiking, glacierwalking, camping, wining and dining at good restaurants and many other things.
If you like nature, fresh air, good restaurants, variety in the types of activities you can engage in in wilderness - you should come and visit. Lom is the gateway to some of my favourite areas in Norway!

"Some reindeers feeding"
There's plenty of mountains to climb in Norway, and in Jotunheimen especially so. During summer there's also a few summer ski resorts that are open. In Jotunheimen one is next to Juvasshytta and the other is in Stryn which is a couple of hours away with car or bus.
Hiking routes are all over the place and lodges, hotels and restaurants are plentyful all over the place.

A small Norwegian town, with lots to see and do!!
"Lom, a Little Norwegian gem."
This little Norwegian town which hasn't a real towncenter, has a lot of things to offer like 2 beautiful museums, a stavchurch set in a beautiful scenery of Norwegian mountainworld. Just outside Lom you'll find Sognefjell, Galdhoppigen mountain, it is even close to the Geirangerfjord and Dalsnibba mountain.
In a travelogue which follows on this page in a few weeks I will offer a nice driving tour.
WELCOME TO MY LOM PAGE ......:-)
We drove from Flåm to Lom through overwhelmingly marvellous scenery.
Travelling by car and camping (tent) is great and gives you all the opportunities , to walk, to drive, to take photographs, in short to do anything you want, you can imagine how wonderful that month of August/September was!
And...the weathergods favoured us day after day and again......
