The Elvesæter Hotel: a wonderfull hotel in great nature

This elegant hotel is situated in a stunning landscape and it stands alone, far away from any village and some km from Lom.

Unique Quality: I did not stay in this hotel, but had a short stop in order to make photos, unfortunately it was raining a bit and getting too dark.
There is a large car-parking, where you can stop and take a look around, even when you dont plan to stay in this hotel. You will see the large column there and even a small watermill, next to the hotel.

Bøvertun: Bøvertun - scenic mountain location

Bøvertun offers different standards of accomodation from basic rooms and camping grounds to the more exclusive solutions. The facilities are nice and they are famous for their good food. The surrounding areas are ideal for hiking and nearby attractions are the caves of Dumdalen and the hikingroute to Nørstedalsseter.

Juvasshytta: Juvasshytta - Path to Galdhopiggen

Juvasshytta is one of the two main mountainlodges for climbers, hikers and glacierwalkers that want to climb Norways highest mountain - Galdhopiggen - which is 2469 metres above sealevel. The facilities have both seperate rooms and dorm halls and offer a great view over the mountain landscape. The standard is somewhat basic and I guess ideal for the sporty kind of type. If you want a luxury hotel - look at some of my other tips.

Galdhopiggen is a great climb which can be performed by everybody that are in reasonably good health. Organized trips are held every day and take 6 hours - give and take the condition of each single individual.

For the sportyminded - next to Juvasshytta is a summeropen slalom and snowboard piste. If you just have an urge to go skiing during summer - here you can do it! Nearby there's also an area which is popular amongst hanggliders, parachuters, paragliders and you name it. They jump of the cliffs and just dive down the valley - quite awsome to watch!

Unique Quality: You are at the top of the world surrounded by clean air, nothing but nature and lots of reindeer actually - and plenty of sports activities at your hand!

The Elvesæter Hotel: The Elvesæter Hotel and Restaurant

Elvesæter is the lifes work of the Elvesæter family and is both a hotelfacility and restaurant. The restaurant is run by a very professional and serviceminded staff and most customers appear to be repeatvisitors from continental Europe. The food is in large based on first class local ingridients like deer, elk, salmon, trout, fresh vegetables and other yummy stuff. They have many excellent wines from Italy, France, Spain and Germany amongst others. The portions are also rather generous - since many guests are returning from mountainhiking trips that has made them really hungry :)

This place is a gem in displaying many items of norwegian traditional and historic showpieces of artscraft, handycraft and paintings. Many buses arrive just to view and admire those items that are on show here. The rooms and rates are reasonable - especially considering the high quality of the facilities. The surrounding nature is absolutely fantastic.
