    • Booked through Expedia for this "budget hotel" at $130/night (Oslo expensive), and satisfied with the location as other reviews have pointed out. The hotel room is small and definitely budget-sized but well arranged. They made the single bed very comfy, and the desk is nice with a strong lamp. The bathroom is understandably small but equipped with a powerful shower with quick hot/cool controls and a nice "all-over" shampoo. There was no safety deposit box in the room, so I asked the front desk. They do have a small tower of 14 safety deposit boxes in the luggage storage room which ranged from a flat small one to one which could fit a small backpack. I chose the mid-range size to put in my laptop. A deposit of 200 NOK (about $40 US) required for the safety deposit box ($ to be returned later of course). With my booking thru Expedia, breakfast was not included so I paid 50 NOK for it. That is just about $10 and the breakfast really filled me up --- with sausage links, eggs, cold cuts, fruits and several kinds of bread and cracker. Well worth it in an expensive city like Oslo. The Oslo S main train station is really close and easy to find through the map.

    When I googled for "Bed and Breakfast in Oslo" I found Hasleveien which is run by two friendly Norwegian guys. Hasleveien offers private rooms with shared toilets and showers. Breakfast is not included in the price, but you have access to a kitchen. Apart from that, a few supermarkets are just round the corner.

    This Radisson SAS Plaza Hotel is probably the tallest building I ever visited in Scandinavia. I did not stay, I just went up to the bar at the top floor, but I think I should stay here in my next visit, especially if I plan not to visit alone next time.

    • Good basic hotel, clean and comfortable, breakfast is good

    Right next to the train station, is actual in the train station building in a shopping mall type setup, but its quiet at night.

    This hostel is very central located downtown, about 10 min walk from the bus- and trainstations. There are both taxi-, tram- and busstops almost outside the door. It's in the middle of Grønland and Grünerløkka, and both are very popular areas.

    In summer it's open 24 hours, but they close at 24.00 between 16th August - 31th May. The hostel have parking, laundry, internet access and luggagestoring. All of the rooms have private facilities. Bedlinen and towels can be hired if you don't have your own.

    2-bed room for single use; 440,- pr pers
    2-bed room for double use; 220,- pr pers
    4-bed private room for 4 persons; 680,- pr room
    4-bed dorm; 170,- pr pers
    6-bed dorm; 870,- pr room

    Bedlinen: 45,- pr pers/set
    Towel: 15,- pr pers/set

    • We stayed at this budget hostel because it was located in downtown within walking distance of a lot of attractions and it is affordable. It is owned by the Norwegian military but run by a hotel company. The military uses the rooms for their soldiers when they visit Oslo.

    The rooms were newly renovated and equipped with TV. But expect no luxury. In their cafeteria you get not only a good breakfast buffet but also affordable lunch and dinner.

    So if you are on a budget this is the place to stay in Oslo.

    This is a basic three star hotel only five minutes walk from the Central Station. It's good value, clean and the staff are friendly and helpful, which more than makes up for the lack of frills. The price includes a reasonable buffet breakfast (different breads, meats, cheeses, eggs, cereal, yoghurt and fruit) which is served in a slightly canteen-like atmosphere - but on our second morning we discovered the small courtyard at the rear and had our breakfast out there, which was much pleasanter.

    The street it's on is pedestrianised (although that didn't mean there wasn't a fair amount of noise at night!) and has a number of bars and cafes, but it's really about a ten minute walk from the city centre and most of the action.

    There's free internet access in the lobby (although the single PC was in heavy demand).

    This is the highest hotel in Nortern Europe, and you have a spectacular view from the top floor! There is a bar at the top and it's really nice to take a drink there and look at the city and the fjord. But if you are on a budget you might want to skip the drink and just enjoy the view, as the prices are higher than the hotel...

    The hotel is located very central, right next next to the bus- and trainstation, and all kinds of public transportation are right outside the door. You are also in a walking distance from many of the attractions in the city.

    I'm not quite sure about the prices for staying in the hotel, but it's definetly not a place to stay if you are looking for a cheap place... If you want something more luxurious and are willing to pay for it, then this can be a good choice.

    Oslo has some campgrounds where you can camp out and some of them also have cabins or caravans for rent. But there is a lot of forest around Oslo where you can go camping instead. You can camp for free almost anywhere in the forest, but you can't stay too close to another property. When you camp in the forest you don't have the facilities like toilet, shower and so on, that you find on the campgrounds. But at least it's free...

    St. Katarinahjemmet (Saint Katarina home) is a catholic convent in a nice and quiet area in Majorstua, in the middle of Oslo. They have studenthomes where young women can rent a room while they study, but they also have a guesthouse for tourists.

    The convent is located very central, and is close to many of the main attractions in the city. It's just a few minutes walk from the shoppingstreet Bogstadveien, and close to Vigelandsparken which is one of the most popular and most visited places in Oslo. Buses, trams and metro are all close to the home.

    If you want a singleroom it costs 300,- (NOK) pr night, and a doubleroom is 450,-. Breakfast is 35,-, packet for lunch 25,- and a light dinner is 30,-. It's not possible to rent the room for just one night, there is a minimum of two days.
