Room 421, Bondeheimen Hotel, Oslo by suvanki I Booked this for our gang of 4 after reading VTers tips. Reasonable price and central location clinched it! 10 minutes from bus terminal, less than 5 by taxi. Friendly, patient and helpful reception staff. We had booked 1 smoking and 1 non smoking room, our allocated rooms were both non smoking. Within a few minutes, another room was found. Apparently, the hotel is undergoing renovation, and will eventually be all non smoking. Rm 421 Non Smoking, twin beds with settee (classed as Family Room), wardrobe space, dressing table,TV, mini bar. Bathroom with shower,wc and basin plus hairdryer. 2 elevators (lifts). Reception area with chairs, newspapers and books. Locked left luggage store. Check out 12 noon, possible late check out upto 1500. Taxi Rank opposite .
Restaurant/Cafe. Booked as Bed And Breakfast. Breakfast served 07.30 - 10.00 weekends. Self service. Good selection of hot and cold, Norwegian and International dishes. Mostly familiar, some surprises, and a couple of 'mystery' items! One of the mystery items was the slab of brown 'stuff' at the end of the cold buffet table , which I later found out was the national delicacy of brown cheese- to me it tasted like caramac flavoured cheese- neither pleasant or unpleasant! I did try some more the next day. Theme: HotelPrice: US$40-80 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averagePhone: 4723214100Directions: Less than 5 minutes from Karl Johans gate. At the back of The Grand Hotel, and opposite Hotel Bristol. If travelling by taxi- be sure to emphasise the hotels name and address, there is more than one Best Western hotel in Oslo

Bondeheimen Hotell, Oslo by deptlads Pleasant 3-star hotel in an attractive Jugendstil (Art Nouveau) building in the city centre, very close to the Esplanade. It was originally established as a hotel for agricultural workers. Our room was comfortable, nicely furnished, and very large, although with a rather dismal view into the hotel yard. Our friends' room was quite a bit smaller and facing onto the street, which was quite noisy. The excellent breakfast is taken in the rather nice hotel cafe Kaffistova, which opens to the general public as a lunch restaurant after breakfast finishes. This was a very nice, unpretentious hotel. Our only complaint is that it took them ages to get our rooms ready. We didn't expect to get our rooms when we first checked-in at around 10am (after having come off the boat from Copenhagen), but even after going away to visit the Vigeland sculpture park for several hours, we still didn't get our rooms until gone 4pm
