The hotel is located close to a popular hiking and cross-country ski area and in walking distance from Norway's main ski arena (cross-country and jump). From the hotel there is a scenic view of Oslo. If you are not very interesting in skiing you will probably find the place a little deserted. It is possible to take the metro downtown, but it is quite slow.
The was a lot of noice in the room, probably from some kind of air conditioning system so I did not get much sleep.
Unique Quality: There is a great view of Oslo from the hotel and close to outdoor activities as hiking, cross country skiing and sports fishing.

The best hotel in Oslo!
I would like to mention that only 20 minuttes away from the city center you will find a hotel that has a very unique design and a beautiful overview of the city and the inner Oslofjord. It's called Holmenkollen Park Hotel Rica. If you want to have a genuine experience in a typical norwegian surrounding, then this hotel should also be considered. In the city center I believe Grand Hotel and Continental are the best choices.

If your willing to spend some seriosu dough and don't mind being quite a ways away from the major attraction, this hotel would be a great place to stay. If overlooks the city from Holmenkollen.

The wonderful and unique Holmenkollen Hotel. Located of course far from the city centre and not really practical for the usual tourist. Well, I admit I did not stay here yet, but I do plan to drive to Oslo as well one day and maybe this place will be a great option and location to spend the night.

Great Hotel, especially if you get one of the rooms with a view over the city. It's a bit pricy and the location is slightly away from where it happens. It's fine if you have a rental car.
Unique Quality: Oldfashioned architecture, wonderful view over the city.

This beautiful hotel in the typical Norwegian wood construction is located a few steps from the Holmenkollen ski jump arena.
We didn't stay there but its unique architecture caught our eyes when we visited the Holmenkollen area.

The hotel is located in peaceful, rural surroundings. The setting is one of peace and tranquility, with no loud noise from traffic. Make sure to get a room with a view!
Unique Quality: This hotel has a unique location, with fantastic views of Oslo. Beautiful rooms and I can absolutely recommend one of the suites.

You have to stay at Holmenkollen Park Hotel Rica. It'S my favourite hote with the most wonderful view over all of Oslo and surronding areas. The service and staff are excellent!
If you want to stay down-town Radisson SAS Scandinavia is good. Or the Grand Hotel situated at the main street in Oslo, Karl Johan
around NOK 1300 a night for a double room All of this hotels are great hotels with the best of amenities - so the rates might be a bit high
I am travelling to Holmenkollen for a work meeting in June 2005. The meeting is at the Holmenkollen Park Hotel, which looks very nice but is also very $$. Does anyone know of any cheaper accomodation within easy walking distance of the Holmenkollen Park Hotel? I will be there for 3 days - what else is there to do in the area? Thanks for your help : )
if u want a cheaper hotel u have rica travel down town as one of many its very central and walking distance to many sight like the palace, town hall, habour etc then for getting up to holmenkollen u need to take the tram 15 min ..get a pass for the tram and u can go sightseeing in the evening (can also be used on some of the boats that take u to the small island in the fjord) on ur way down town from holmenkollen u can stop at majorstua and walk 5 min to frognerparken/vigelandsparken to see the famous sculpture park
Oslo isn't world-famous for cheap accommodation. If you don't mind to commute to the meeting from downtown I can recommend Hotel Perminalen. Its affordable and within walking distance of most downtown attractions.
