Ikea in Stavanger - NEED HELP!!

by ryokosy

Hi fellow VT's member,

Does anyone know how to go to the IKEA in Stavanger with bus from Stavanger Centrum? or any other suggestion are welcome!!

Re: Ikea in Stavanger - NEED HELP!!

by kvikk

There is a free bus every Saturday from Stavanger sentrum to Ikea at Forus outside Stavanger. Departure is from the main bus station in Stavanger, Stavanger Byterminal, every hour from 10 til 16 or 17. (The IKEA web site does not state clearly when the last bus departs from the city center.) However, the last bus back is at 17:35. The bus is run by IKEA.

For using public Stavanger buses, you can use the travel planner at http://reiseplanlegger.kolumbus.no/

Input "ikea varehus" as the destination address.

The best solution was already recommended by “kvikk”. You could find it on my pages too, http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/bf576/33bf1/9/, with a lot of other “tips” about Stavanger.
If you want to go to IKEA during the week-days, the best solution is to take the bus no.2.
You’ll see that is a station only 4-500 meters away from IKEA. Another option is No.9 but this is going to take almost one hour and you’ll see the entire Rogaland 

What to bring

by wyagi6

A good pair of boots is essential if you want to tackle some of the walks in the area. Even if you don't burn easily, sun cream is important if you do a lot of walking in Norway, especially in the hills. The air is extremely clean and clear. If you have a digital camera, bring along a good supply of batteries as they are hellishly expensive in Norway!

The swedish Ship Gotheborg

by adema29

I was lucky enough to be here (I am always here by the way) when that vessel have visited Stavanger on15th-17th of July 2009.
I have spent few hours around this beautiful ship trying to imagine how, almost three hundred years ago, some people were living and dying on it, all having same reasons... money and the "morbid" curiosity to discover new places and to have new experiences and of course… tell to the others about what they have seen. Same like us here, isn't it ?

I have to mention that this ship is just a replica of the original one....
You may read all you want about the ship and it's trips on the web address. The story is amazing for sure.

Go to the Trollskogen

by adema29

I have discovered it just by chance in a sunny Sunday, looking for Spring...
Nice and wild place where the birds were singing and kids playing and laughing in the sun.
You can go there by bus no. 1A from the City Center.
The place is on the north of Hundvag which is a island connected with the city by the big bridge. You can see the bridge from almost all the places in Stavanger.
