Ferry Service from Lysebotn to Preikestolen

HI,

I'll be flying to Norway in 2 weeks' time. I'm gonna hike to Kjerag and Preikestolen. I've already settled first part of my itinerary from Oslo to Kjerag. However, i am stuck in the second part of my itinerary.

I'm gonna hike to Kjerag first before setting off to the base of Prekeistolen. So my question here is, is there any ferry service from Lysebotn pier to Preikestolen pier? can u send me a link so that i can check out the price and time table.

Thanks in advance. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

It is a national travelplanner. The original site is in Norwegian, but you can set it to English or German.

btw, how far it is from Sandnes Sentrum to Lauvvik pier? will it be expensive to rent a cab to there?

Sorry, I can't help you with this. I don't live in Norway, just knew about the site because I used it to find some ferries for my holidays in Norway. I've never been to the Sandnes area.

Forget about using a Taxi in Norway, unless you are an Arab Sheik ;)
I have used a Norwegian program to calculate the route: http://kart.gulesider.no/
The result is: 20,7 km/ 21 min.
It might be a good idea to rent a car, even if this is not so cheap.
You'll see some other interesting places (Månafossen-Moon's waterfall being one of them) and the total price will be smaller.

I understand you plan to travel from Sandnes to Lauvvik pier and then by ferry to Lysebotn pier.

Bus 47 runs from Sandnes bus station to Lauvvik pier. The trip takes around 42 minutes and is not very frequent. As for traveling from Lysebotn to Preikestolen. As far as I know there is no pier named Preikestolen pier. Bratteli pier is probably the closest to Preikestolen. This is the timetable for this boat: http://www.kolumbus.no/downloadfile.php?i=b24d516bb65a5a58079f0f3526c87c57 Unfortunately it seems to be only available in Norwegian. This boat does not run on Saturdays and runs three times on Fridays. It will only go by Bratteli pier on request. Monday to Friday departure time from Lysebotn are 07:20 and 15:30. Fridays there is an additional departure at 17:45 and on Sundays there are departures at 15:30 and 17:45. Arrival in Bratteli around 30 minutes after departure Lysebotn.

Travel Tips for Stavanger

Take a trip to 'Kjerrag'...

Take a trip to 'Kjerrag' approx 2Hrs drive from Stavanger by car. However, there is a walk by foot of approx. 3 Hrs from the road. Kjerrag is a place were the 'base jumpers' jump from. Its 1000meter straight down into the fjord (lysefjorden). It is quite spectacular and a very good trip. By the way, - it's a resturant were y park you car ( good if you are thisty and hungru vhen you come back from 'kjerrag', Actually Stavanger is a small and tight town.What stavanger has got (conserning entertainment and resturants)it has in a narrow circle in the town centre. Quit good for socializing.

The beaches outside Stavanger

If you come here during the summer and if it has been warm for a while, it will be worth going to the beach. It might sound strange but we do have very nices beaches here but the water can be pretty cold at times. Sola beach is the closest and the most crowded. But if you go further out (Hellestø, Vigdel & Bore) you will find beaches that are less crowded. My wife did find out that the water can be a bit cold as you can see from the picture.

In the centre of Stavanger

In fact this is a very beaten path, it is the sidewalk of the very busy Madlaveien, the main westbound road out from Stavanger. A lot of people use it daily, but fail to see it's beauty as they hurry along. It is particularly beautiful this time of the year with alle the flowers blooming. The path is not long, it starts at the underpass by the theater and leeds to the main entrance of the old hospital. But it is a serene oasis in the midst of the city. Enjoy!

The beaches of Jaeren.The coast has beautiful beaches from north to south.Nearest one is Sola beach..15 minouts drive from Stavanger.
Good to visit all year round for walks,or even surfing some places.
