Racing and/or metal music in Stavanger
by lavaslaerk
We're visiting Stavanger probably in the last week of September to see my wife's cousin. Otherwise, it would be a bit out of the way!
Scandinavia is famous for it's auto racing and Norway in particular for metal - both of which we like - anything happening even if on a small scale in that area while we're there?
Any tips or resources? :)
TIA!
Jason

Hi
Maybe its not your thing but Ozzy plays at a festival in Stavanger called Rått&råde on the 4th of september.
17th of september a concert by W.A.S.P.
18th of september there is a concert by a tribute band to Dio called paDIOna.
There is probably also some local stuff.
In Bergen there is a black metal musical called Svartediket(Black dyke)
Thats probably worth a visit if you`re into that kind of music.
That was what i was able to dig up from the internet.
Maybe someone from Stavanger can help you some more.

I wish we were there for that, looks like fun :) But thanks, anyhow! I figure that a lot of this is local events, so maybe we'll just look around while we're there.
Travel Tips for Stavanger
Ullandhaugtårnet
by Jonesy77
This TV/Radio tower is the highest point in Stavanger (199 meters above sea level). From here you can see Stavanger and the area around. There is also some trails around here through the forest that the local people like to take walks in (called Sørmarka).

I felt something special when I found a huge "something" trying to hide behind the old small wooden houses in Stavanger.
And to hear the horn from all the Stavanger region calling for the lost guests is something too...

Go out in week end and... drink
by adema29
It seems that everybody is going out in the city on the Friday and Saturday nights and most of them are going there to drink...
The Old City is full with restaurants and they are always full with "happy" people. They use to remain inside until late in the night.
It will be nice to see them when they finish... I do not want to up-load here photos with this subject but you can be sure that is very interesting to see them (especially the very young girls) going home after too many hours in pubs...
Squash
by Gard
I really enjoy playing squash and I ty to play a couple of times each week. There are several places to play squash around Stavanger. The best place is "Sola Racket senter" at Røyneberg. This place has 8 courts but you should book ahead at least if you are playing after 4 pm. You can also play at Tasta and this also has 8 courts if I'm not mistaken. But I don't play at Tasta very often because the courts have concrete walls and I prefer the wooden walls. You can rent the racket at the Squash center but you should bring your own shoes.
Without doubt my friends...
by Daniel5
Without doubt my friends ...Everybody knows that the
only 1 reason to visit Norge is the 'Pulpit rock'
as u see on the pic' on the top of the stavanger page.
I described about it on my norge home page so go & read now... And promise me, go to visit this place .
P.S - this visit will take 1 day at the 'Pulpit Rock'
cuz first u've to take a ferrie from the Harbur to 'TAU'-(Ask & everyone will know where Or of course go to the Tourist Information- all info' u need).
Then from Tau u'll take a Bus (Bus station is beside the ferrie), the bus driver will stop for u beside the
begining Route to 'pulpit Rock' , this track is very easy But it's take a 1.5 hour if u're fast ,If not
so it will take a 3 hours ...But believe me the waiting is worth it ..U will see, U will seee .
Have fun - Good Luck .
