Im going on a cruise next week, and wanted to know how far it is to get from the cruise port to the town centre,and what means of transport are available to do so?.vonysc.
Don't worry about this anymore :)
If you'll be lucky you'll have to walk maximum 100m to the town Centre. If not, it will perhaps be no more 150 m ;)

This is another occasion for party all over Norway...
I have been part of two "events", one in Hammerfest and one here in Stavanger...
The "show" is impressive with parades, costumes all daycand ending, inevitably... drunk :)
Take the express-boats aroung the fjord from island to island and see the local maritime surroundings. If you plan to do this alot, buy the flexi-card -it is sold at a redused rate during summer-time, and is good on both these small boats and busses in the Stavanger/Sandnes area.
This hill forms the ridge running alongside the Gandsfjorden across from Stavanger and Sandnes and is entirely suitable for an afternoons stroll with breath-taking views as the top of the hill is crested.
Drive through Sandnes following the signs for Sand and then Dale. When you enter Dale take a right turn (signposted Gramstad and Dalsnuten) up a small twisty road (aren't they all!) to the Car park at Gramstad.
The path is well signposted and obvious.
