Campground along the E6: Overnight in a Motorhome
There is a campingground along the E6, about 15km outside of The city of Trondheim. Parking there is 150 NOK per 24 hours, but I dont know anything about how to get to the city from there.
I had parked my small motorhome in the 1st night next to the cathedral, that was free of charge between 05.00pm and 08.00am and afterwards it was restricted to a maximum of 5 hours with increasing parking-fees :
1st hours is 20 NOK, 5th hour is 40 NOK, and for 110 NOK you get 4 hours of parking.
The other 2 nights I stayed in Ladeveien, a small street in the north-west of Trondheim, where parking was totally free of charge, but it will also hard to find this place.

Rica Nidelven Hotel - a SNR Hotel: Best business hotel in Trondheim
Two nights on a business trip, had a suite room "Bjugn", well appointed for working, big comfortable. Otherwise utilitarian as most hotel rooms in Norway are.
Excellent location, most rooms facing the river. Walking distance to all central places in trondheim, including the Hurtigrute quay, pedestrian street, main square and cathedral, train and bus terminal.
Fantastic breakfast buffet. Voted the best breakfast buffet in Norway

Rosenberg Hostel: Beautiful and Comfortable Hostel
We had a real special treat at the hostel. The night that we stayed there was bristling was excitement and wonderment as about 200 of us sat in front of the television and watch the ceremony of the British turning over Hong Kong to China. There happened to be students from Hong Kong who just sobbed as they watched.
The hostel was clean and well taken care of. We had a small room for our family which was adequate. The hostel is quite far from the downtown area. We happened to have a car but I wondered how the backpackers got there.

I lived in Studentsamskipnaden(a student town in Trondheim),
I got my own bedroom and shared kitchen and toilet with
other three pretty gals.(in fact you may share room
with boys too)
The price was around 1700kr. per month, excluding telephone
and laundry. We had electronic oven, refrigerator
and a free palaestra in basement.
