Cheap accommodation

by sprdak11

Hello. I hope to go to Trondheim for a couple of days. Can anyone recommend me any cheap accommodation in this city?

Re: Cheap accommodation

You might start with these two places. The first is the hostel, the second a hotel. Both are very centrally located.

Travel Tips for Trondheim

MUNKHOLM - the beer

by Maria_75

There is also a beer called Munkholm, and it was launched in 1992. It is without alcohol, but tastes quite good. Today it stands for more than 50% of the non-alcoholic beer sold in Norway.

It is brewed after old traditions from the monks. The name is from the island Munkholmen outside of Trondheim. The monks in the monastery on the island used to brew beer that was exported all over the country and even to England.

Students rule the city

by jonkb

Trondheim has the largest population of students per capita than any of the Norwegian cities I know.

This of course does show itself. The most used method of transportation is the bicyckle. The bike is also used in the winter (usually with winter tyres: Spikes).

You'd better wach out for those bikes!

If you go to Trondheim in the summer, you really shouldn't miss the bicycle-lift. It is unique, and really worth a try. It is situated at Bakklandet, just at the other side of the river. Ask at the tourist information, and I guarantee you that they can explain the direction, because it has become a huge tourist attraction.
Above you can see a picture of the beautiful, old docks along the river Nidelva.

Pirbadet - lovely indoors pool facilities -

by maritagnes

PIrbadet is Norway's largest indoors pool facilities, and something Trondheim has reason to be proud over. Located on the Pier terminal with a wonderful view over the Trondheimsfjorden and the Munkholmen.
Spent a lovely day there with my daughter, and couldn't have found a better way to amuse a bored teenager for so many hours.
It's a bit too expensive (NKR 95 for a grown-up, but then you can stay all day) And we never regretted going there for a second. There's really something to do for all ages. The length of the main pool is 51.5 m , usually divided in two 25 m pools.
There's a youth pool with a 100 m slide with speed-measuring and light/sound effects, surfing pool with waves,
jacuzzi, a health section with therapeutic baths, a kids' section where noise is allowed and a quiet relaxing area with magazines and relaxing chairs...........well, there's more.
We enjoyed it.
The café was just perfect. Just pop up from the water, enter the café dripping wet and enjoy your lunch. There's a "dry" section, as well, to enter from street level.
