hostel and camping
A house in a nice wooden cottage about 5 minutes walk from where the ferry for the Naeroy Fjord and Sognefjord leaves. It's a great place to discover Balestrand, Fjærland, Gudvangen and to set off for Bergen.
Unique Quality: Rooms were very nice and cosy and not too crowded, with only 30 beds or so. The hostel also has a camping place. A word of warning: the place is open from nMay to September, only

Loveliest Hostel in Norway
Just take a look at this picture and you'll understand why I say that this is one of the loveliest hostel I've seen in a long time. The truth is, I loved staying in the cosy wooden chalets nestled amongst the tall mountains.

Lovely Hostel with a Big Orchard
This lovely hostel in a giant fruit orchard is run by a sweet old lady. As soon as you step into this place , you'll be enveloped by the sweet scent of apples and plums. It's a really lovely, rustic place and you're guaranteed to have a quiet stay if drop by in autumn. This place is very popular during the summer months, so do call in advance to book.
Unique Quality: You'll probably be asssigned to a cabin in the middle of their lovely fruit orchard. Doubles cost about Nkr 260 . Though the facilities here are aged, the room is clean with a little stove to do your cooking. Take note though, that the toilets and bathrooms here are shared and secregated by sexes. It's located in a seperate building so you'll have to sprint a couple of 100m if you need to pee.
