I stayed with friends in a private home, but I did check out other accommodation opportunities:
Rjukan's best is Park Hotell Rjukan, a fairly standard business hotel.
I heard much good about Rjukan Hytteby, which is also a youth hostel, and generally catering for many categories of visitors. Said to be very friendly and helpful.
There is a camping ground in the lower parts of Rjukan (east), and non-commercial camping spots around.
Roffe and me mostly camped out in the high ground wilderness but sometimes it was nice to use a shower and visit a bar in the evening... So we also visited some camping grounds, like this one at Bövertun.. Very enjoying road to reach this place, especially if you come from the south.
Reasonably good view - you get a bit spoiled when it comes to views as you travel over the Norwegian high mountains... And there were a nice shower and a bar with an open fire... ;-)
