Scandic Hotel Tromso is located just a couple of Km to the Tromso Airport. The hotel has got 146 rooms with classical Scandic fornitures. The hotel has got a restaurant but it wasn't one of the best I tryed in Norway.
The staff is very friendly but it is on the other side of Tromsøya Island quite distance from Tromso downtown.

Brilliant, and very decently priced! Included in the cost you get breakfast and a light evening meal! Neat and clean. Perfectly situated, right in the centre of Tromso, within walking distance of the harbour, shops, cablecar, Arctic Cathedral - everything you'll need! The only thing you will need to do is catch a taxi from the airport!
Staff are also very friendly and helpful.
We had a great view on the 3rd floor - looking over the town!

If you like to stay by the water - Rica Tromsø Hotel by the waterfront is an excellent choise.
Nice rooms, nice service
Great view and central if you want to go around in Tromsø - day or night.
The hotel is quite nice but you might find bugs. It is centrally located in the heart of the town, right in the middle of the water with great views of the Arctic Cathedral. Unique architecture.

The walk in rate for a double room was 890 kr. incl. breakfast. The room was ok, and the toilet was fine, however the breakfast was bad.
I was told that Viking is a good choice for budget travel. But given that the Radisson SAS charged 1045 kr for a double room and sits right beside the port. I would go for Radisson if there is a 2nd time.
If you don't necessery wanna stay in the core of centre and you are not afraid of a little walk (appr. 3km) I would recommend Camping instead of this "Hotel". Breakfast is very light so it's not a good reason to choose this one. Rooms were also a bit messy. Anyhow, the facilities didn't satisfy me because the price was pretty high, like usually in Norway BUT service was really nice and very helpful, thanks to it :o)
+ in the centre, close the Polaria and Mack's brewery
+ service, nice crew
- messy rooms
- breakfast
- condition of rooms
Because of Eastern, all the hotels in Sommer? were full or closed. So we didn't have many choices. One night we spend in the car and believe me, it was so awful. Other night we spend in the small road.
It was really stupid but because we were very tired, we had to do something. So we choose a small way that seemed not very popular. And there were some places without snow. We slept in tent, me and two guys and it was quite cold and wet. Check the pic, if you don't believe me. So it's good to make a reservation before you live. Or would you like to sleep there? Neither I do, not anymore.
