A decent hotel, very central

A nice little hotel, situated very close to the 'city' centre and main shopping/eating areas. The hotel is very expensive by UK standards, but one of the cheaper ones in Tromsø! Our party of four had two rooms on the third floor and both were clean, airy and pleasant. Free WiFi in the hotel, along with a computer downstairs if you don't have your own laptop. TV in each room, but only Norwegian channels of little use to English speakers...
The room servicing was quite erratic, and although the cleaners did pay a visit daily, towels on the floor often weren't replaced, toilet rolls left empty and beds unmade. You only had to ask at reception to get clean towels and anything you wanted (they were very helpful) but some people may not like this aspect of the hotel. (Didn't bother me, did my elderly mother!)
Do ask for a room facing the Arctic cathedral side of the hotel though as my parents room on the street side was very noisy due to traffic (all vehicles fitted with with studded winter tyres) whereas our room facing the other side was very quiet. The rooms were very warm, although one of then too warm with the temp hard to regulate. The other was fine.
Breakfast was fine, as described in other reviews, and walking into town from the hotel took a matter of a couple of minutes.
I would happily stay at this hotel again (and probably will) and am happy to recommend it to anyone who needs a clean and smart room as a base for exploring Tromsø.
