Mazury - nice place to sail.
by Rawicz
Lake Sniardwy - the biggest one in Poland - lies 200 km north of Warsaw in the middle of Mazury National Park: the famous recreation area full of lakes, pine woods, fish and mushrooms, where rare birds and animals can be seen (for example, the tarpans - wild horses that live only in Poland).

Mazury is Polish “Land of 1000 Lakes”- in fact there are much more of them: small, bigger and huge. Every summer the region is conquered by enthusiastics of sailing, yachting, fishing or walking in huge forrests. You will easly find there places untouched by human feet both as marinas crowded with people.
Visit MAZURY LAKE DISTRIC

This region of Poland is famous for it's lovely lakes. Since May till September you'll see hundrets of boats every lake possible. But not only sailing and beautiful landscape make Mazury so interesting. For centuries this land was ruled by Teutonic Knights. Lots of remains - churches and castles are worth a visit.
Mazury- Swieta Lipka
by zaffaran
Swieta Lipka is a must when you are in Mazury. This small village is important because of two reasons -religious (St. Mary's sanctuary) and because it has one of the most beautiful baroque churches in Poland. It's also famous for its 18th century organs - in summer organ concerts are held.
To get to Swieta Lipka you must follow road No 594 from Ketrzyn to Bisztynek. The road is quite narrow but not that bad and it goes through beautiful countryside.Swieta Lipka is definitely worth paying a visit!

Pozdrawiam! :) Ronald

Have a look at my Mazury page. There will probably be no more mosquitoes then. But it may be quite cold. On the other hand, we have recently had lots of beautiful sunny days in the autumn, so be optimistic.
Great Masurian Lakes

thinking of visiting the lakes does anyone know where the best place to stay is and what should i not miss seeing we have our own car..
Re: Great Masurian Lakes

It depends what kind of places you like. Ruciane, for instance, is an attractive place on a lake with a marina etc. but it's quite touristy too. Another such place is Mikolajki. I quite like Zgon, which is a little quieter, but there are a few campsites there. In fact, there are so many places that are attractive in Mazury that it's hard to choose one. Have a look at my Mazury page to read about some of them.
