Where the water refreshes

All these refrences to water(s) have a point. Krynica is perhaps Poland's most beautiful and treasured spa town. It is in the south of the country, very close to the slovakian border, east of its more famous cousin, Zakopane.

In the town itself there are a lot of sanatoria - you don't have to be ill to go there - they're popular retreats these days for people who also want a bit of pampering.

Krynica is one of my favourite places in the whole of Poalnd. It's great in any season. The prices for everything are cheap. The light is wonderful and soft. The views are stunning whther you're down in the town or up in the hills. But the best thing is the atmosphere - a serene mix of past and present - lively but in a quiet way - energizing and relaxing.

"Go in winter"

Krynica is a place where the snow can really fall come November. Either get your skis, or some warm clothes and a decent pair of boots, and get out and about to see and feel the effects of winter. And when you get back from your wanderings settle down by a roaring log fire with a glass of hot wine or a cherry vodka and cup of tea.

The town authorities of Krynica make sure that the place is well-maintained. The public spaces are what you would expect of a spa town - fountains, greenery, open avenues for walking. In fact you could get away with relaxing in the town the whole holiday without even venturing into the hills.

The numerous sources of mineral waters with a complex chemical make-up and valuable therapeutic properties have led to the development of many health resorts in the Beskids that were already famous in Europe in the last century. They are generally beautifully located and have healthy climatic conditions. Sorrel, salt baths, and bilberry are used for therapeutic treatment against illnesses of the respiratory tract, circulatory and digestive systems, anaemia, and nervous disorders.


KRYNICA is one of the most famous Polish health resorts, has numerous sanatoria and physiotherapy spas. There are also excellent conditions for winter sports (ski trails, ski-lifts, a sledge route, an artificial ice ring).
