Welcome to Poznan
"Review"
Welcome in Poznan – some time ago this sentence welcomed all people in Poznan that arrived here by train. I would like to show you this city the best as I can. The Capital City of Poznañ , ( Latin: Posnania, German: Posen ) is the capital of Greater Poland ( Pol. Wielkopolska ) located at the Warta River. It is one of the oldest Polish cities. In my opinion it is the important historical centre; Poznan's cathedral on the island ( Pol. Ostrów Tumski ) is the earliest church in the country. There are tombs of duke Mieszko First, king Boleslaw Chrobry and some others famous peoples.
Saint Peter (pol: Piotr) and Saint Paul (pol.: Paweł) patronize Poznań, and almost all townsfolk celebrate their name day every year. At the Independent Day they celebrate The Name Day of Santa Martin Street – once of the popular street in Poznan. At this day people in Poznan eat a lot of famous only here Martin’s Twirl (Pol. Rogale Marcińskie).
Poznan is quite big city, thus the Street Map of this city could be very helpful: http://www.info.poznan.pl/Map/MapStatus.html.
