I can suggest you a very nice bar where you can also eat some dishes of authentic polish food.
It's the Kalambur in Kuźnicza street, close to the University.
People are mostly students.
After we discovered this place we went there almost every evening after visiting the city to enjoy a beer or a shot of vodka. One evening we found a guy playing jazz at the piano, and we really enjoied it.
They have a small menu with the classic polish dishes like soups and pierogi.
We ate there at lunch time and we saw people eating in the evening, but i cannot tell you if the kitchen is open at night. The food is cheap.
I had there the best Pierogi Ruskie I tried during my stay in Wroclaw....they were simply wonderful! (suitable also for vegetarians).

Travel Tips for Wroclaw

Ratusz - façade on the Rynek

by Mikebond

I liked the Gothic façade of the ratusz very much! Its central body gives a sense of harmony, proportion, beauty and lightness. The same doesn't really apply to the two lateral bodies, which are more compact and heavy.
Here are some more photos of the façade. If only the weather had been milder, it would look even more beautiful!

Sample the local way of life

by cheekymarieh

Sample the local way of life. It is better to stay with a family than in one of the numerous hotels in the city. Drinking vodka with a Polish family for the first time in 1989. It seems a long time since I learnt the art of downing vodka in one. Since those days I have learnt that vodka isn't just a flavourless clear liquid that is mixed with something else!

German nostalgia tourists

by HORSCHECK

From 1919 until 1945 Wroclaw was the capital of the Prussian province Lower Silesia, which was part of the Weimarer Republic. At that time Wroclaw was known under its German name "Breslau".

Nowadays you will see busloads of German nostalgia tourists who come to seek their family roots in Wroclaw.

Even I have family roots in the region as my grandmother was born not too far from Breslau. I even visited a church where one of her relatives was baptised.

Panorama of Raclawicka: Offers...

by aliante1981

Panorama of Raclawicka: Offers a panorama of a battle near Raclawick, it is 120m long and 15m high. You can get headphones with commentaries in Polish, English and German. Think os tickets beforehand, as people are only admitted there in groups, 17 groups per day. Buy a ticket some days before your visit (4$, 50% discount for students), or try to bargain for one at the entrance.

Wroclaw buses

by Natalllya

The best and easiest way to get around Wroclaw is buses.

They take you all over the city and run every 15-20 minutes during the day. They also run all night but less frequently (once an hour).

You can purchase bus tickets at all kiosks. 2 ZL for a one way adult ticket (CDN $0.77, USD $ 0.56).

You do not present the ticket to the bus driver as in most places. Get on the bus/street car and once you get in you will notice small box like gadgets mounted on poles. Insert you bus ticket and it will cancel it for you. At times there will be controllers asking for these tickets so make sure to hang on to the tickets until you have gotten off the bus. Also, if you're route requires more then one bus, these tickets are not transferrable and you will need another one.
