Ducks on the Odra bank
by Mikebond
Look at these ducks that rest peacefully on the bank of the Odra, under one of the several bridges that cross the river! They seem not to care at all of the high amount of cars and trams that runs over them.
advertising...

Advertising: Poland has a well-established tradition of advertising - and you can see some of it painted over entire houses. I had seen huge murals and graffitis in Copenhagen but I have never seen huge ads painted on houses like in Wroklaw. For me it was a different way of brightening up otherwise grey buildings. In all fairness my Polish friend was horrified about my lack of taste.
Department Store Renoma
by german_eagle
Renoma is a department store that was built in the 1930s by the well-known Wertheim family who owned department stores all over Germany. The design is typical 1930s (Bauhaus). Location is on Kosciuszko square/Swidnicka st.
Nowadays it is an elegant place for fancy shopping. There are shops with international brands on the several floors, also restaurants etc. From the restaurant on the 3rd floor the huge glass windows offer fantastic views of the old town of Wroclaw. Hint: free restrooms on each floor :-)

by Toja about the cathedral
And then.. passing by the Archbishop’s palace we come in front of the XIII century cathedral. Actually.. the cathedral was so much destroyed during the last war.. that it’s really hard to say which century it should belong to… However, rebuilt as well as it was only possible is quite an interesting mixture of styles. The interior impresses with it’s monumental magnificence.. Just for a walk around I'd recommend good shoes first of all. High heels could be a bit of problem on the cobble stone streets. To enter the sacral buildings.. probably the same as elsewhere - clothes which won't hurt anybody's religious feelings..
