i am am staying in wroclaw for afew days in early march , i am on my own and aged 52 i dont speak much polish , does anyone know if there will be much for me to do and places and peaple to meet

Wroclaw is large touristic city. You will have lots to do and to see.
Old town sights, museums, theathres ....
You can do day trips to Ksiaz castle to Jawor town, Legnica.

The cinemas in Wroclaw show films mostly in original version with Polish subtitles. Only the films for children are usually dubbed. The tickets cost from 13 to 20 PLN. It depends on day and time you want to see the film. The most popular cinema in Wroclaw is now the Helios cinema .

The Muzeum Poczty i Telekomunikacji lets you learn the history of post and telecommunication in Polska. It is not an important museum (my guidebook doesn't even mention it) but you may find it interesting.
Opened in 2007, Arkady Shopping Mall features over 130 shops, some restaurants, cafes and multiplex ten screens cinema. There is a convenient indoor car parking available (gate from Nasypowa street), so bad weather should not disturb your shopping. Main attraction of Arkady is 12 meters high aquarium, with coral reef and small sharks inside. Mall is open Mon-Sat 9:00 AM till 9:00 PM, Sun 10:00 AM till 8:00 PM. Cinema is open every day 10:00 AM till midnight. In Poland, cinemas show most movies in original language versions with polish subtitles which is a good news for foreign visitors.
Barton Ice-Cream in Arkady is a must for ice cream lovers. They have dozens of ice-cream flavors and great fruit smoothies. My favorite is "Lasagne" ice-cream desert !
Recently there is one more reason to visit Arkady Mall - sculpture of Salvatore Dali “Profile of Time” is exposed in mall's hall. In the future the sculpture will stand next to the Sky Tower building, currently construction on hold due to economy.
When you are making plans take into account that Wroclaw has quite bad traffic jams. One of the jamming crossroads is in Nowy Dror which is along a way from centre to airport. So, don't do not leave going to the airport too late.
