I have stayed there twice. Small. Rooms are spacious, have Satellite TV, radio, in suite bathroom, and telephone. No restaurant, but good free breakfast. I recommend it as the best value in Wroclaw. Very popular, so reserve early. 2005 rates in ZL : apartment (2)- 120 -180; single (5) 70 -100; double (15) 85 -150 triple (5) 90 -141.
Unique Quality: Quiet, on a square away from traffic. Good location. 10 min walk from train and bus stations. 10 min walk from the Rynek.
Directions: One half way between bus station and Rynek, off ul Swidnicka which goes to the Rynek.
The hotel itself is quite basic but very comfortable. The carpet on the stairs, which leads up to the first floor and reception, is tattered but was once, I imagine, very pretty because it is fitted on a wide staircase in a large entrance hall. The walls on the first floor are made of marble but this is lost because the room doors are painted and might even be metal.
Single rooms contain a three piece suite, a tv set, chest of drawers, table and telephone. The room was quite large and the settee pulled out into the bed. There is a balcony with a clothes line so you might like to bring some clothes pins if needed. All bedding was clean and smelled of fabric softener which was very pleasant. Although the room needed refurbishing, especially the carpet, It didn't smell musty or old.
The bathroom is on the small side. When you sat on the toilet, your bottom touched the wall on the side and you could easily rest your head on the edge of the sink. There wasn't anywhere to put the soap or flannel down. Also, the flexible shower hose was made out of rubber and not chrome/aluminium so therefore when you put the water on full blast, and the rubber hose is bent , this stopped the water from flowing properly. If you held it at an angle to avoid it being bent, ithe water came out full blast. These remarks are of little importance since you only spend perhaps half an hour in the bathroom and it is nice not to share a bathroom anyway but I thought I would just mention it. There is a breakfast buffet every morning for 10 Zloty, which I did not make use of so I cannot tell you the quality.
The staff were very friendly. English and German is spoken and one of the girls took the time to explain a few things to me about her culture. There is a nice supermarket two minutes away that sells roast chicken and fresh salads.
I recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Wroclaw It is also quite central to the Old Town. I even walked there once when I lost my way looking for public transport.
Directions: From the station, go to where the 406 bus stops and leaves from and for the airport. At the corner, turn left and walk 5 to 10 minutes until Pl. Kosciuszki.
203 ($48) zloty for a single with private bath.
Unique Quality: Great old world hotel with excellent location on the way into town, close to train station.
