Library
I was surprised to find the Library at the central market square.
The entrance had a great piece of modern art covering the ceiling.

Me and a group of friends are thinking of visitin Wroclaw for a weekend in February, but are worried the nightlife might be a little quiet during winter. What do you think? Will the bars and clubs be busy as they would be in the summer?
thanks
Hi!
Dont worry, it is large city. There will be lots of people in clubs.
Tourists visit Wroclaw also in winter.

Greetz:)
The clubs and bars are always busy here, its just that everything moves inside. It will not be as busy as summer but plenty of good times to be had all the same. Remember to pack extra clothes.
Hello, don't worry. I am young man and have lived here for more than 15years. Wroclaw's nightlife is opened all the time. During weekends I have much free time so I could show you the city, just let me know at my email. taziii @ wp . pl Regards from Wroclaw:-)

Don't be surprised if you see people drinking their pints with a straw, especially girls.
The reason is that the beer is mixed with a syroup (you have to ask for it) and they serve it with the straw and actually you enjoy drinking it with the straw.
Normally you can chose between raspberries syroup or ginger. I tried the ginger one and it was very very good...
If you like it, than be careful, cause you can drink one glass after the other as the syroup makes the beer tasting lighter than it is. ;-)
About twenty kms outside Wroclow is Gross-Rosen labour camp. During WWII, this camp imprisoned nearly 160,000 people, a substantial portion of which died of intensive labour and war atrocities. The drive to Auschwitz/Birkenau is daunting if you start from Wroclow, making Gross-Rosen a good stop. The people running the museum and maintaining the camp were running low on money, so hopefully this place was able to keep going. Foundations for the buildings remain, but there's not much left. The museum is well done, they have an English language video though the guides only speak German. The camp is near the town of Rogoznica--I suggest getting a map of Polska at a petrol station, and once at the village, you'll see signs.
Galeria Dominikanska this is a big mall in Wroclaw. There are about 200 shops, some restaurants and cafes. There is too a very nice fountain. Time to time you can see here the mode collection shows or the dance shows.
Opening hours: Mo - Sat 9.30-21.00, Su 10-20.00 You can buy there clothers for men and women, jewelery, children`s clothers, books, shoes, toys, flowers, food and drinks and many more. you can pay cash or with the card.
If you enjoy cycling, Wroclaw has some excellent cycle routes around the city. There are numerous set aside cycle tracks and this must be one of the best cycle friendly cities in Poland. Having said that, the downside can be, if you get off a cycle route there are a large number of cobbled streets in Wroclaw. The photo shows a typical cycle route that went down the centre of the street and is shared with pedestrians.
