You can take bus or taxi from the airport to Bydgoszcz then train to Torun.

Info on airport transport in English on the official website here:

http://www.plb.pl/1,dojazd.html

Train info in English on the Polish railway website here:

http://rozklad-pkp.pl/?q=en/node/143

The direct train takes just over an hour and there are plenty of departures. One-way fares vary according to departure; the ones I looked at were 11 and 15 zloty.

Travel Tips for Bydgoszcz

The most unusual place to see...

by pattyx

The most unusual place to see in this city is 'Venecja Bydgoska' (Bydgoszcz Venece). The neighborhood is old and it's set up in the overgrown city park over the river. It's a place not known to tourists because it's rather poor and settled by polish gypsies. The place has character and it's very romantic. I recommend it to anyone who is looking for something a little more 'exotic' in rather dull city. I spent my childhood there. My memories.... I'll have to write a novel about them someday.

Master Twardowski

by ZiOOlek

Master Twardowski is a Polish folklore character, a sorcerer who entered a pact with the Devil. Similar to the figure of Faust in German literature.

Master Twardowski spent some time in the city of Bydgoszcz, where, in his memory, a figure was recently mounted in a window of a tenement, overseeing the Old Town. At 1:13 p.m. and 9:13 p.m. the window opens and Pan Twardowski appears, to the accompaniment of weird music and devilish laughter. He takes a bow, waves his hand, and then disappears. This little show gathers crowds of amused spectators.

The Valley of Death ( Dolina Smierci)

by Kinia

This place is located far away from the city center in district called Fordon ( the biggest district in Bydgoszcz). In 1939 the Nazists killed 300 people in here. In memory of them the monument was erected.

Monument of Kazimierz III the Great

by ZiOOlek

Bydgoszcz was founded by Kazimierz III, the Great - king of Poland - in 1346. This is why there are many things named to commemorate the king, like the local University.

The monument is new. It was founded in October 2006. It has four metres. The monument was designed by Mariusz Bialecki from Gdansk.
