Central Location

The Ibis Hotel has a very central location with shops, buses, trams and a cinema very close by. It has an unusual design with an atrium in the centre of the building and walkways on each floor that you can look over into the restaurant below. The downside to this design is, the restaurant and bar are on the ground floor of the atrium so noise from this area can be heard in your room, especially at 5am when the cleaners are at work. The rooms have a modern style and enough area for a couple, but they lack a certain amount of storage space especially for a couple with large cases. There are no tea/coffee making facilities or a mini bar in the rooms but there is a bar and restaurant in the hotel. There only soap provided is in a liquid form from a container fitted to the wall of the shower and ensuite. There are no shower mats or a toilet brush. The room was cleaned daily and towels changed when required. The bed was comfortable and more than adequate in length for my long frame. There is a long seat from which you can watch TV or speak on the phone but it is uncomfortable after a while. There are laminated floors fitted in the rooms and they have no carpets. Why do I always get the room with the elephant wearing clogs in the room above mine. I have noticed there have been some complaints about possible over charging. The receptionist explained that if you book an offer for a room, where you can’t cancel, they take the money for the room, straight away from your account. When you arrive at the hotel they will charge more if you require breakfast or other services. I found all the receptionists spoke English and were very helpful. The breakfast is buffet style, but the only hot food is frankfurters and boiled eggs. The hot drinks are from a machine and tasted powdery so I end up having tea. Free wi-fi is provided within the hotel but use of the computer terminal is very expensive compared to other locations. There is an area to sit with other guests, close to the reception, but smoking is allowed in this area.

Unique Quality: Having done a lot of moaning would I stay at this hotel again? The answer would have to be yes. I liked its central location and you can obtain some good room deals on the internet. The standard at the Ibis is known in advance, its like eating a Mcdonalds, you know what to expect. The standard of English by the staff was very good and they were always pleasant.
