In August 2005, my husband and I stayed at the Batory hotel . We had a double with a large private bathroom .Everything was very clean. A good breakfast was included in our rate. It was buffet style and if you had wanted to try everything you could have eaten for several hours, it was so much. The staff at reception was very friendly. Luckily, everybody there spoke English. We were able to check into our room early, which was very nice. The hotel is about 15 minutes walking from the market square, if you stroll leisurely. I suppose walking fast it could be done in 10 minutes, but who's in a hurry when on vacation. There is also a restaurant in the hotel, 20% off for hotel guests. We had dinner there once, since we wanted to try Polish specialities. The food was very good, again more than I could eat, so I asked for a Cranberry brandy afterwards(another specialty of the house). The glass I got was the size of a waterglass, filled to the brim. The brandy had a special taste, I really liked it , but it took me a while to finish it. - I shared it with my husband -
The hotel has an elevator, but also a wide staircase. For me, that's a plus, since I once was in a hotel when everybody had to be evacuated due to a fire alarm. It turned out to be a false alarm, but I well remember the extremely narrow staircase and the helpless elderly people who we tried to calm down and walk down at the same time.

This hotel is steeped in history being founded in 1834, it became a famous hotel during the period of WWI & WWII. In WWII it was seized by the Nazi's and after the liberation it became used as the headquarters for the Russian Army. The hotel has been recently revamped, its staircase features the Art Nouveau stain glass window of Stainslow Wyspianski which catches the light beautifully.
The location is excellent a short walk to the old town square as well as being close to the train & bus stations. It has wonderful views of the Juliusz Slowacki Theatre through the large sash windows. Last but not least it is close to my beloved Florinska gate which was my landmark during our stay. Our twin room was a good size with a great shower, it was clean & tidy. If you wish to stay in a non-smoking room it is best to request this when booking, we aired the room and it was fine. Breakfast is average served in the breakfast room, it consists of bread, cheese, cold meats, a cold boiled egg, cereals and youghurt. Use the milk in the large jug for your tea as the other milk is coffee milk and ruins tea. I contacted the owner by email prior to booking and she happily quoted me a discounted price, they do have good winter rates anyway.

by ginte A hotel of Pedagogic University. Students live in the first floors, and upper floors are for guests and tourists. Prices aren't expensive, so it's a good place for to stay if you have to keep your budget tight. N.B. If you're a tourist, you'll have to pay 1.5 Zlot for each day you're staing in, as a fee for the air...:-) Theme: HotelComparison: about averageAddress: Armii Krajowej 9Phone: +48 (012) 6626455, 6379585

I adored my stay here. The hostel is located just off of the street Dluga, in a fantastic location, approximatley 8 minutes walk to Krakow Glowny train station and the buses, and approx 10 minutes walk to Rynek Glowny.*
The staff here were fab, we arrived after an overnight train journey at 6am, they let us drop our bags, take a shower, have breakfast, use the internet......Nothing was ever too much trouble. The dorms have larger than average beds and are both clean and comfortable. The shower rooms are really modern, spacious and clean. The kitchen is small, and there is no hob or oven as such, but its a gathering place as is the common room. The internet and a breakfast of toast and coffee is included in the cost. I will stay here again.*

The Hotel Wit Stwosz by mightywease The Hotel Wit Stwosz is in a perfect location for exploring Krakow being a very short (less than 5 minutes) walk from the Church of St. Mary, Rynek Glowny (the Market Square) and the Cloth Hall. The room we were in was high-ceilinged, of average size but with plenty of space for us and our things. As well as the beds (we had twin-beds pushed together) the room contained wardrobe and draw space and a small table and chairs, the furniture being plain but attractive. The room was simply decorated but very comfortable and lovely and warm, quite important as we visited in a rather cold and wet March. The bathroom was small, more of a shower room really, but clean and more than adequete. The public areas were, like the room simply but attractively decorated and the cellar restaurant, where breakfast was also served was cosy and welcoming. Breakfast was basic - breads, cheese, meats and salad with tea and coffee - but tasty and set us up well for the day. The staff were fantastic. Friendly, effecient and very , very helpful. I would certainly recommend staying at the Hotel Wit Stwosz. I am not sure how many rooms the hotel has but the feeling we got was of a small, quiet and relaxing place where we both immediately felt at ease. Comfortable and welcoming it is a lovely hotel in a lovely city.
A very short walk from a lot of the sights in the old quarter and not that far from the Castle, Kazimierz and other areas of interest. Also quite near Planty and the bus stops to and from the Airport Theme: HotelPrice: US$40-80 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: 28.
