New Hotel
This was the first time we had stayed at the Hotel Benefis and having read positive reviews about the hotel we were not disappointed. We arrived early at about 1030 and we were told our room was available for us. When we went to the room where discovered it had single beds after we requested a double. So off I’m sent to the reception to find out if we can swap to another room. The receptionist checked and another room was free, an upgraded room for the same price. This turned out to be larger accommodation with a separate lounge, bedroom, large en-suite and entrance hall. There was a very large amount of storage space and our meagre amount of clothing looked lost in the wardrobes. Free bottled water was provided every day and the bathroom topped up with soap, shampoo, shower gel and clean towels. The bathroom was larger than normal and with a power shower in a large enclosure. The TV was a flat screen but the only English speaking channels were Bloomberg and the France 24 news channel. I understand the hotel was completed 3 years ago and judging by the décor this would seem right. The rooms were all keep spotless and clean during our stay. There was a really nice buffet breakfast with some hot food and a lot of choice. The breakfast room doubles up as a small bar during the evening. The hotel is located just across the river and it is a 15 minute walk to the Market Square. The hotel is located in a mainly residential area but there are a few small shops in the area including a bakery and a pizzeria. Parking is limited with only a couple of places immediately outside and there is a small car park at the rear for which there is a charge. For someone like me with an ipod there was only a limited amount of wireless available free in the areas of the reception and breakfast room/bar. The hotel lacked tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms though free bottled water is provided and the bar which is open in evenings provides drinks. I left an item of clothing at the hotel which was returned to me. All in all, the hotel was really nice and we really liked it.
