More about Hotel Columbus
Great boutique hotel
A great boutique style hotel right on the edge of he Kamierz (the Jewish district with its fantastic restaurants) and a gentle 15 minute stroll from Old Town square. The rooms are well designed, with modern furnishings, fridge, staellite TV, very comfortable bed and an excellent quality en suite (power shower cubilce, no bath). sadly for Brits, ther is no yea/coffe-makign facilities, but room service charges are modest. The breakfast was fanastic - definilktey something for evreyone, whether you want continental or British. The staff are courteous and very helpful. The only downside is that the hotel is on a major street with trams running from early morning till late night, and you would definitely hear it in the fron rooms. We had a room at the rear overlooking the graden which was very quiet and I would recommend asking for one of these.
I had a terrific stay at this hotel for 3 days in May 2008. The hotel was very clean and well appointed. Very nice bathroom and comfortable bed. In-room safe. Free internet service. Excellent breakfast provided a nice start to the day. Very, very helpful staff.
I know others have commented on the noise level due to the major avenue on which this hotel is located and the trams that run along that street, but I didn't hear a thing. My room was on the back side of the hotel, overlooking a small playground rather than the avenue in front of the hotel, so that may have made a difference. But even in the breakfast room/restaurant on the front side of the hotel, I never found noise to be any problem at all.
Although the hotel is not near the central market square of Krakow, it is less than a 15-minute walk to the central square, and less than a 10-minute walk to Wawel Castle. The hotel is located on the northern edge of the old Jewish Quarter, which not only has its own historic sites, has now become the hippest part of town at night for those who like cool cafes and interesting restaurants.
just stayed for the weekend and can recommend this hotel.rooms are a good size and clean bathroom and shower also excellent.staff very helpful and friendly breakfast is also good.great position for a weekend break.ask for a room at the rear of the hotel ,front looks over a busy road.great for couples
Five nights in this lovely, modern hotel late June to early July. Just loved being in Kazimierz.
The room we had was very quiet, at the back of the hotel (not facing the main road). Location excellent, right at a tram stop for when you might want to go to or from the train station, which was convenient for us.
Well-trained and kind staff, really nice room with a good bed, very good breakfast with eggs, sausages/bacon, cold meats and cheeses, fresh fruit, and homemade excellent baked goods every day.
Would definitely return here and recommend it.
Great base for city break
Spent 4 nights in the Columbus in July 2008 and were very impressed! Booked through Octopus tavel and for the money the hotel exceeded our expectations. The hotel is about a 15 walk from the main square and there looked to be several trams which ran into the centre. Our room was at the front and although it overlooked a busy road, we didnt notice the noise at night. The room was comfotable, clean and airconditioned and we had the use of an electronic safe, mini bar (with free mineral water) and wall mounted flat screen TV! The bathroom looked newly fitted and the power shower was great - no bath but wasn't a problem. Breakfast buffet was lovely with plenty to choose from. Staff were friendly and very helpful. All in all would recommend this hotel as a great base for a city break.
We stayed at this hotel from 19thJuly until 22nd July 2008.
If was just perfect. It was right on the edge of the jewish quarter so was perfect for going out for a drink or meal. The main square was 15 minutes walk away. Or you could get a tram. It was right on the route.
The hotel itself was quiet and unassuming. Just perfect. Reception staff were excellent, so helpful. Breakfast was really good with a huge choice. Something for everybody.
The rooms were lovely. Had everything you needed. Air conditioning. TV. Mini bar with free mineral water. Bathroom was top notch with power shower.
All was spotlessly clean. The sheets on the bed blinded you. They were so white.
We had a room at the back and we slept like babies. We even had a little balcony (although not all of the rooms have) There is a little garden at the rear to sit out.
I cannot fault this hotel. For a few days break when you are out all day. Its just what you need. If you are exploring a city you dont want Gymns and suanas. Have not really got the time!
Krakow is just lovely. I would recommend more than three nights. There is so much to see.
Im very fussy about hotels. So take my word for it.
superb boutique hotel - highly recommended
I booked this hotel after looking on Trip Advisor. I was not disappointed! A lovely hotel on the edge of the Jewish quarter and about 1Km from the old town square. The hotel was immaculate with lovely bedrooms - mine was at the back and facing the hotel garden and a local school and was extremely quiet. The front rooms faced a busy road where trams normally run so I imagine that perhaps there could be some traffic noise. Lovely comfy beds and ultra modern shower room.
Breakfast was plentiful with cereals ,yoghurt, juices, cheeses, cold meats, tomatoes, cucumber, olives and breads, rolls and hot food etc. A nice touch was there was free bottled water in the bedrooms each day and toiletries were replenished. All the staff were extremely helpful and I would not hesitate to stay there again.
Recently refurbished, comfortable hotel and great base to explore Krakow
Hotel Columbus is conveniently situated if you prefer to be close to the main square (15 minute walk) yet a stones throw from relaxed, rustic restaurants and atmospheric bars in the Jewish quarter.
You can tell they have recently refurbished, the hotel and rooms are spotless and welcoming. There was plenty of choice at breakfast which was fresh and regularly replenished..if like us you like a lie in!!
The staff were welcoming and informative. This is a great base if you like to explore and want to visit the Salt Mines and Auschwitz. Highly recommended.
If you are looking for a hotel which is not pricy but provides excellent accommodation, this is the right hotel. We stayed here for 4 days this Sept. 2008. The hotel staff are very helpful, the buffet breakfast is excellent and the rooms are modern, very clean and reasonably big even with a balcony. It was through the feedback of other travellers in tripadvisor.com about Hotel Columbus which made me decide to choose this hotel for our girl's weekend trip. The very good feedbacks of travellers are very correct that this is really a good hotel to stay. The place is located just a stone's throw away from the Kazimierz restaurants. Our favorite is Szara Kasimierz and in the main square, we tried the Wierzynek in the Rynek Glowny (main market square) and Grill 15/16 which are both very good. In the hotel, the receptionist can order a taxi for you to bring you to the salt mine or Auschwitz at a reasonable price. The driver waits for you while you tour these attractions. This hotel was only 15 min. walk to the main square and when it comes to shopping, there's a big center close called the Galeria Kazimierz, 12 min. away from the hotel. It is easier to take a taxi and it costs only 12 zloty. I find Krakow very beautiful and a great city to spend a long weekend. Shopping was the best at the Angel store in the main square. Very nice clothes from France and Italy.
Nice small hotel in good location. Very good service, friendly staff, good buffef breackfast, tasty food, clean rooms. The only small minus was traffic noise.
