Half a Step Up From a Hostel
This is a scruffy 60's building in serious need of at least a coat of paint (inside and out), the windows really do need a good a clean and the carpets could do with being just totally thrown out. It is however cheap, staff are friendly and helpful, rooms are clean, if sparse, and the breakfast is pretty good, served in a pleasantly decorated basement room which doubles up as a drinks bar and restaurant in the evening.
If you just need a cheap bed for the night and aren't too bothered about being in the town centre then this place is OK, though I personally probably wont stay here again.
Advertised wi-fi only seemed to work in public areas and in certain rooms and there is a pay-as-you-go computer in the lobby.
Unique Quality: Whilst the hotel is a couple of miles out of the city centre the road is serviced by trams 18,19 and 22 all of which go into town and the tram stop is about 200 yards down the road which makes it fairly easy to get backwards and forwards from with trams running pretty regularly from about 5 am until about 11.30 pm.
The main plus for me though was the 24 hour Tesco next door with its handy supply of ready chilled beers and the fact that the hotel keyring is in fact a bottle-opener!!
