One Step Up From A Hostel
Searching for a cheap hotel here in Krakow I came up with this one - cheap it cetainly is with a twin room (single occupancy) for just over 100 Zloty including breakfast. As cheap hotels go it is OK, clean and modern with reasonable facilities. Advertised Wi-fi is actually only available in the lobby and restaurant, not the rooms, but it does have 4 computers for guest use (complimentary). The main drawback is its out-of-town location, being situated about 7 Km from the centre of town, on the road out towards the motorway - a fact that was a bit misrepresented on the site ( "minutes into city centre" ) - but is pretty much right next door to the bus stop and about a 10 minute walk to the nearest tram stop.
Another small gripe is that the restaurant closes at 11 pm and there are no vending facilities and so a nightcap (alcoholic or otherwise) when arriving back in the early hours just ain't happening :(
Unique Quality: It is cheap, and for an overnight stop definitely worth considering. Staff are friendly and helpful and without exception speak excellent English. Beer in restaurant less than 5 Zloty, in fact same price as orange juice!!

A new 2* hotel in the outskirst of Krakow
Hotel System Pop is a brand new 2 star in the outskirts of Krakow. The hotel is very orange. The rooms are small but functional and of course in very good condition since it is brand new. They don’t offer many thrills- they don’t change your towel, empty soap bottles, etc… The front desk staff also seemed pretty incompetent—when we asked for another towel as they didn’t give us a hand towel, they told us to ask the restaurant. Your stay satisfaction will depend a lot on luck—our first few nights were OK. Our last night was terrible as we were surrounded by a school group which ran through the halls and shouted until late at night and again early in the morning, so don’t count on a lot of sleep. The price was right--$50 a night for a triple room. There is also free Internet in the lobby, but there are only two computers so the line can be long at times.
