    Klezmer Hois Hotel

    by

We enjoyed our stay at the Klezmer Hois Hotel in Kasimeirez. It is a bit dated and in a time warp but that somehow adds the ambiance of the Hotel.

We had quite a large room that was rather darkly decorated. Old antique style furniture etc. The bathroom was Ok with plenty of hot water. I noticed that there was no heater in the bathroom which would suggest to me that it would be a bit cold in winter. The main bedroom had two large radiators though. The bed was large and comfortable.

Part of the wall was a 'false' wall which may be a problem if noisy guests were in the next room. That did not happen to us.

It is quite a dark hotel. Very high ceilings with hanging lamps etc. Large oak staircases with antique furniture on the landings.

I found the staff very friendly in an efficient sort of way.

Breakfast was very nice for us. Served from 8am onwards but will provide a breakfast if you need it earlier. it was not a buffet breakfast. They serve you pots of tea or coffee. Choice of eggs. We had scrambled eggs which was lovely and well presented. A basket with a choice of rolls and sliced brown bread. Lovely cherry jam and cottage cheese and also choice of two cheeses and ham.

We also went to a 'concert evening' at the Hotel which I would recommend. You can also order a la carte from the menu whilst watching the concert.

Unique Quality: The Hotel is extremely well placed in the corner of Szeroka square. A beautiful square with many bars and lovely restaurants. The tram also stops nearby. A walk to the main square in the centre would take about 15mins. There are also synagogues in the square. There is also a police station in the square that I found encouraging.

Taxi from the airport with someone meeting us with a board with our name on cost us 75PLN. Going back to the airport we took a taxi that was in Szeroka Square. It was on a meter and cost 57PLN.

Don't change money at the airport as the rate is very bad. The taxi driver stopped at a Kantor in town for us to change some money to pay the fare.

In the corner of the Szeroka Square is a ATM machine if you want to use plastic.

If you book a tour the coach leaves outside the Ester Hotel which is very near the Klezmer Hois. That is very handy. We took the tour to Auschwitz.

    Hope this helps. Peter

You can use www.hotels.poland.pl to select and book also on-line . Good (discounted prices) and a reliable service (confirmation). Prices are always for rooms, not for persons, and usually include breakfast
    Krakow
A somewhat higher price class, which I can recommend, is the
Klezmer Hois (double for $ 80)
    Szeroka Street 6 (Tel (12) 411 12 45, Fax (12) 411 16 22, e-mail klezmer-hois@klezmer-hois.cracow.pl)
It has a special Jewish atmosphere with Klezmer music every night and is located in the old
    Jewish quarter.

    Zakopane
In case you stay more than one night, I suggest asking the Tourist Office (close to the bus/train station) for a private room address.

KLEZMER HOIS (KLEZMER's HOUSE) In the KLEZMER HOIS restaurant you will discover a wide variety of Jewish cuisine. They do not have rabbinical supervision (they do not have certificate of kashrut) though they respect the obligatory rules of kosher cuisine.

by kenbac about Klezmer Hois.

We wanted to have a meal in a Jewish Restaurant in Krakow. We went to Kazimierz, which was the original Jewish section of the City.
We concentrated on Szeroka where we found a very good choice of Restaurants. So good it was hard to choose.
We finally settled for Klezmer Hois.
This was a very nice restaurant. Beautifully furnished. The meal was superb.
There was music in another section but we chose the part without. The section with the music seemed very lively and busy but we went for the food and felt we would enjoy our experience with the music in the distance. Kulki rybne - Fish Balls

Right Around the Corner

by shelemm about Restauracja Galicia

Go to any of the cafes in Kazimierz and you can eat well and think the prices are cheap: but go around the corner to Restauracja Galicia, and you will eat very well, in a very nice restaurant, for what the Poles eat. Jewish cusine, incredibly inexpensive. We had a two course meal featuring a sauerkraut soup, brisket with carrots, potatoes, and turnips,a drink (water flavored with marinated strawberries and cherries), and coffee. All for $4 per person including tax. Just walk past the garden (front entrance) at Klezmer Hois onto a busier street, take a right, and you're there!

Has anyone done the package 'concert and dinner'at the Klezmer- Hois hotel in Kazmierez that could comment please.

Has anyone ever stayed at this hotel and could comment.

Any idea what the cost of a taxi to that hotel from the airport would cost please.

We should be there in a couple of weeks. Thanks, Peter
