Right in Pub Land

This was a wonderful find, right in the centre of the party/bar area. Close to the main square, these apartments are clean, modern, well decorated and cater for 6-8 people sleeping in separate single beds (or with one double) in a secure environment.

They have a black/white/red decor which is very pleasing. A lounge with a cafe table, chairs, modern bathroom (sometimes two if you pick the right one) and extremely reasonably priced and easily affordable for a small group.

I must admit that I was slightly confused when we booked the apartment, it was not clear if we were to have it all to ourselves or have strangers in to occupy the unused beds. It turned out that we had it all to ourselves. Best to check via email if you are only a small group.

Unique Quality: Secure, bright, tea and coffee available, a fridge, TV, DVD player, music system.

This is right where it is happening. If you are a stag night party, you could not wish for a better place. If you are a Girls Aloud party, it is safe and secure with a front desk person and a locked iron gate for which you must have a key.

Poland is very cheap for western europeans, the vodka is only 50p a shot and there are many different flavours. Be careful girls, in a different country, always have one designated chaperone home.

Old Town visting

Pergamin Apartments offers an alternative for groups staying in Krakow. 5 VTers shared apartment number 1 for 4 nights during EuroMeet2010 in June 2010, with 4 returning to share apartment number 4 for a further night after returning from L’viv in the Ukraine.

Pergamin Apartments is located on Bracka Street which is just off Krakow’s Main Square, making this an ideal location within the Old Town for visitors to Krakow.

Each apartment is slightly different. Apartment 1 has a single bathroom with 3 single beds located within the lounge/dining area, a further 3 single beds located on a mezzanine level (it is not possible to stand upright next to these beds) and a double bed located in a separate bedroom. Apartment 4 has 3 single beds located in the lounge/dining area, a further 2 single beds in the open plan mezzanine area and a double bed located within an alcove arrangement on the mezzanine. Within both apartments, a spiral staircase led up to the mezzanine levels.

Interestingly, for both stays, we had booked different apartments using the online booking service but were allocated to apartments on our arrival. Unfortunately, our original booking had been for apartment 3 which contained two bathrooms, for our group of five ladies, this would have been a better arrangement; however, we did receive a 10% discount for this inconvenience.

Unique Quality: Each apartment has at least one showeroom (apartment 3 has two) with toilet and wash hand basin, a mini bar fridge and tea/coffee making facilities (although the tea and coffee provided is chargeable). The facility would appear to be used more by gentlemen than ladies as any toiletries within the showerooms were of the ‘Nivea for Men’ brand.

For myself, my preference was for apartment 1 which overlooking a courtyard (not particularly visible) as opposed to apartment 4 which overlooked Bracka Street and received both the noise and the fumes (including smokers from outside a ground floor café) from the street. Apartments 2 and 3 would also overlook the courtyard area. The apartments offer accommodation to differing numbers up to 8 people.

Located at the end of the corridor of the apartments, to the right, is a communal computer with free internet access.

Access to the apartments is off Bracka Street along a walk-through to a number of bars, including Pergamin Chill and Music Bar where, apparently, it is possible to obtain discount if you are staying in the apartments (although, we were never informed of this during our stay). We were not disturbed by any noise from these bars during our stay – although, they did provide excellent opportunity for drinks with a short walk back afterwards!

All told, I would recommend these apartments for groups making a trip to Krakow; they are excellently located for the Old Town with a selection of cafes, restaurants and bars within the area, including a small shop in the near vicinity which sells bread, meats, cheese, butter, waters, juices and alcohol.

Quality appartment reasonable price central locati

SueT booked this accommodation through Booking.com for 4 nights for 4 of us (Mariele joined us to make it 5).

We had booked an apartment with 2 bathrooms, but on arrival, we had been given a 1 bathroomed appt! (Appt 1)

After negotiating a price-for 5 people instead of 4, plus we'd missed VT discount (as we'd not booked directly with Pergamin) and we'd booked a 2 bathroom appt, not 1 bathroom, think it worked out at 480 zloty (around £21 each)

Well we managed OK for our 4 nights.

Secure accommodation, -3 keys-outer gate, main door and appt door.

3 single beds on mezzanine floor, 3 single beds on main floor, plus separate double bedroom.

Plenty of storeage space-wardrobes and 2 chest of drawers, table and chairs, mini bar/fridge, TV/DVD/radios in each room. Kettle, crockery and cutlery. (Coffee sachets etc to be paid for)
Air con.
Free WIFI
Bathroom-shower, WC, wash basin, hairdryer, towels,
Freebies-toothpaste/shampoo etc.

Free use of communal computer. Laundry service.

Reception 08.30 until 22.00. (Twice we were woken in the early hours by people without their keys banging loudly on the outside door)

The web site advertises breakfast served in your room-we weren't offered this!(and there was no sign of any other occupants enjoying this service)! It wasn't a problem, as we stocked up at the nearby supermarket (opposite the Unikat hotel) and there are plenty of places nearby that serve delicious, reasonably priced breakfasts)

Apparently there is a discount here for use in the Pergamin bars-again, we weren't informed of this-and we certainly spent quite a bit of time (and zlotys!) here during VT Euromeet - this was the place we (VT Euromeet attendees) all tended to drift to - at least 20 + of us!!! Neither were we informed of the discounts in Krakows restaurants.

4 of us returned here for 1 night after Lviv trip- we were expecting to be in Apartment 1 again, but instead were offered Apt 4. This faced onto UL. Bracka, so it was noisier than Apt 1, but it was just for one night.

Again, there was a mezzanine floor, with a double bed (inserted into an alcove) and 2 single beds, and 3 single beds on the lower floor. Shower room with WC and wash basin . Towels, and few sachets of shampoo/shower gel (for men!!) Plenty of storeage space, and facillities as appartment 1.

Unique Quality: Reasonable price, Comfortable rooms, Great location-2 minutes walk from main square. Bars within staggering distance! Friendly English speaking reception staff. Secure apartments.

I'd certainly stay here again if traveling with others. I might consider the double for single occupation if traveling alone. I'd certainly recommend this place!

Apt 1 -sleeps 8 . 6x single beds (3 upstairs 3 downstairs) plus separate double bedroom. Views onto buildings surrounding courtyard.

Apt 2- sleeps 6 -3 single beds up/3 downstairs

Apt 3 -sleeps 7 and has 2 shower rooms. This is their most spacious Apt. 5 beds on lower floor/2 on upper

Apt 4 -sleeps 7 - 3 singles on lower/2 singles and a double on upper. Views onto Bracka Street below

Apt 5-Sleeps 4 - 2 on upper/2 on lower. Views over Old Town (not sure how much you can see though)

Apt 6 - sleeps 2 - I think these are 2 singles

Apt 7 -sleeps 5 - 2 down/3 up
