This is a very good hotel, just in a heart of the old town. This is the oldest existing hotel in Krakow. The name of the hotel comes from XIX century and means: "Under Rose". Among the most important guests of the hotel are: Liszt Ferenc - Hungarian pianist, Alexander I - tsar or Great Prince Konstanty.
The entrance to the hotel is decorated by columns from 1550 with a latin sentence: "Let the house exist until an ant drinks a sea and the turtle sees the whole world". In the hotel's grounds there is a wall from XII century. At the end of XVI century the house was in hands of Prosper Provano who founded the first post office in Krakow.
This is a three star hotel but the standard of it is higher than three stars. Is is a place where many famous Polish persons stay like artists, singers etc. During my stay at the hotel I met one of the most famous Polish actor - Pawel Delag.
I would not explain what is the equipment of the hotel as you probably know what three or four star hotels should have and this hotel will definitely have it! It has, for sure, really nice restaurant. The restaurant has a window ceiling. It is said that you may drink the best cappucino in Krakow here. In fact, persons who prepares the coffee are long term trained - even few years. In additiion, the restaurant serves really good desserts. There is a 10% discount for hotel guests. It's said that it's the best hotel in Krakow's Old Town - hmm... my friends say that it's right.
No doubts that this is the oldest hotel in Krakow (over 300 years old). Among its guests were for example Franz Liszt (1811 - 1886 - Hungarian composer), tsar Alexander I of Russia and many others.
The old style interior design with some new elements looks really beautiful. Each floor (there are 4) represents another style - you can choose what you like (54 rooms + 3 suits: phone, satellite TV receiver and minibar in each room)

The Hotel Roza is situated in Florianska Street, a beautiful old building in the heart of the city and minutes from the main market square. The history of the hotel goes back to the 14th century and visted by many famous people over the years such as Alexander 1 and Franz Listz.
The best thing about this Hotel is its position. Within walking distance to Wawel Castle, shops and the Cloth Hall in the Main Square.
Our room was spacious and elegantly designed, the only minus was it only had a bath no shower which made it difficult to bathe. (my partner is 6ft 4 but i didn't have a problem being a shortie!)
Points of interests while in Krakow. (Auschwitz and Birkenau camps)
Jewish Town - Schindlers LIst Factory.
1. The salt mines about 40 minutes drive in the town called Wieliczka. A fabulous experience.
2. The Jazz Club across the road from the hotel - excellent music for Jazz lovers.
3. Kanonicza Street - where small arcaded Renaissance courtyards are still active.

Arrived in Krakow from friends place and went to place we had booked. Found that room had twins - I'm used to this in Poland and had specified a double - it was our first night not in friends/relatives flats! Receptionist was offhand so we picked up our bags and walked out. In Krakow, in summer. After a while my partner persuaded me to try the Pod Roza although I thought our budget would never stretch to it. The receptionist was great, yes they had a double room and took about 100 zlotys off the quote - still pricey but we had saved by staying with friends so why not. And it was worth every penny.
The room was large but still taken up by the bed. It was light, airy and the bathroom well appointed with nice toiletries. Staff were polite, attentive but never intrusive, and treated us the same however travelworn we looked. Breakfast was all the fruit and yoghurt and cold meats you could imagine, with hot dishes on request at no extra cost. We also ate dinner there and now use it as a benchmark for gastronomic experiences.
When I got back I told my (Polish) mother about it and her eyes misted over, apparently it was a favourite with my grandmother. Didn't stop her nicking the remaining toiletries though
