THIS IS NOT A BUDGET HOTEL, BUT PUTS ONE INTO THE MOOD OF OLD POLISH HOSPITALITY WITH HIGH CEILINGS, WIDE CORRIDORS, SUMPTUOUS FURNITURE IN THE ROOMS, OLD ELEVATOR, etc.
ONE OF THE BEST POINTS IS THAT IT IS ONLY 50M OFF THE MAIN SQUARE OF KRAKOW!! THEREFORE, EVERYTHING IS CENTRAL AND THERE ARE LOTS OF RESTAURANTS NEARBY. THE ON-SITE 'METROPOLITAN' IS WHERE BREAKFAST IS SERVED AND THE FOOD GOOD.
THE PERSONNEL WERE ALWAYS COURTEOUS AND HELPFUL. OUR ARRIVAL WAS BY OVERNIGHT TRAIN FROM BUDAPEST, AT 5:30 IN THE MORNING, AND THEY GAVE US A ROOM RIGHT AWAY AT NO EXTRA CHARGE!
(Their website has a lot of photos.)
Unique Quality: THE LOCATION AND DECOR AS DESCRIBED ABOVE.
ALSO THEY PROVIDED FREE COMPUTER ACCESS IN A QUIET, SEPARATE ROOM.
Directions: 50M off the MARKET SQUARE
Unique Quality: At the time of my stay this hotel wasn't mentioned in any of the main guidebooks. It probably dates back about a hunded years and although its nothing really special it was reasonabley priced and in a great location.
Directions: No. 3 Slawkowska. This street leads North Eastwards from the main square (Rynek Glowny. Leaving the square its a few hundred metres on the right hand side.
We will be arriving (2 adults, 2 children) at Gl osobowy from Budapest. Can you describe our options for getting from the train station to our hotel (Saski)?
Thanks!
hello!
The main train station that I know is called Krakow Gwowny (or close) and is close to a large ring road around the old town. The road is called Basztowa. A taxi could take you to the Saski Hotel using Basztowa in no time (distance-wise) It's very close.
Now I don't know if Gl osobowy is another train station in Krakow... don't think so. I left from Gwowny Train Station to go to Budapest, so I guess you'll arrive there fm Budapest. :-)
Have a great time, Krakow is memorable.
yes, Krakow Glowny Osobowy is the same station in Cracow. it is located very close to The Old Town. you can go by taxi or have a short walk 10-15 minuts to get to Saski. you must leave the station towards Pawia street (west). then look for Basztowa street (on the corner with Basztowa/Pawia you'll see 3 hotels Warszawski, Europejski and Polonia). go downstairs throught the tunnel, then turn right and go towards Barbakan, along trees passage (it is main Old Town GATE, very red and possible to see). there on the left begins Florianska street (very crowded). go there and look for Sw.Tomasza street (3rd right). go there and look for Slawkowska street (2nd right). just there you'll find Saski Hotel. try it... take care. m
