Krakow bus tickets

by antonc63

The weekly bus tickets which one can buy, can they be used as part payment on trams/buses/trains going out of Krakow, eg Tyniec or Auschwitz, etc?

Also can someone help me with these questions,
1. Which bus/tram can we take from Krakow Bus station to Tyniec, please?
2. Is there a tram/boat to Tyniec?
3.For Sr.Faustina Chapel which is the best tram/bus to take?

Re: Krakow bus tickets

by johngayton

For the first part of your question the simple answer is no. The weekly ticket is only valid for tram and bus journeys on MPK services within the Krakow area. The Krakow area though is quite extensive. On one of my previous visits I stayed in a hotel on the tram 4 line which runs for about 14 km out as far as Nova Huta. http://www.mpk.krakow.pl/

Your weekly ticket isn't valid on the private minibus services such as out to Oswiecim or other out-of-town locations.

1. Bus 112 and you can use your ticket

2. There is something realtively new called river tram line to Tyniec (May-September in theory). It's better to check it.

3.Tram 8, 19 (this goes from the main station), 22, 23. The stop „Sanktuarium Bożego Miłosierdzia”.
Also trains which stop at Lagiewniki station can be used.

Check also webpages of these places.

Travel Tips for Krakow

Toilets/toalety

by Robertvp

Toilets are well placed around the City centre with the international sign WC shown on most city maps. After doing one's business one must leave one zloty (women) 50 gr or one PLN depending on one's need (men) Most of the toilets are well maintained by the the ladies guarding them. Most eateries/pubs provide toilets for their patrons and will rarely challenge those in need.... Friendly people, lots of reasonably priced eateries, modern shops its all there.

The Clothiers' Hall - right in the Krakow marketplace. Now you can purchase there almost every kind of souvenirs. Around the marketplace there are lots of cafes and pubs where you can spend your time and money :)
Don't forget about famous 'cracovian Cracknels' mmm...
delicious !

EROS BENDATO

by LoriPori

In the Market Square - Rynek Glowny - you will find the bronze statue EROS BENDATO - Eros Bound - created in 1999 by Igor Mitoraj.
Of course our VT Group had some fun with it - posing inside and outside the sideways HEAD, as it is hollow inside.

Mezuzah

by pieter_jan_v

In the Kazimierz Jewish quarter you kan see a Mezuzah at some door posts. A mezuzah is is a piece of parchment in a decorative case inscribed with specified Hebrew verses from the Torah (Deuteronomy 6:4-9), The case is affixed to the doorframe of Jewish homes to fulfill the mitzvah (Biblical commandment) to inscribe the words of the Shema "on the doorposts of your house".

Larger clothes

by matcrazy1

I recommend you to pack larger clothes then you used to wear. Why?
There are at least 2 reasons:
1. Eating/food in Krakow is delicious and you may catch EA (eating addiction) and it's not necessarilly low-fat eating so be prepared to get a few kilograms/pounds.
2. Hmmm... Krakow is not a paradise for early morning street jogging and sport lovers. Instead you can practice crazy dancing all nights there.
