Sheraton Hotel

I had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. I was part of a tour group, but would recommend it to the non-budget traveller

A comfortable well located hotel .

From my 4 nights experience in May 2010 I can only say that this is a real 5* hotel where you can have promotions making you pay a price not higher than a 3* hotel in West Europe!
Location is on the river Wisla at about 200 m from the Wawel castle. To have a river view your have to book the Deluxe type rooms.
The market square is at about 1000 m. I did not have meals in the hotel because the ambiance is so much better at Rynek Glowny. As Krakow is still a safe town you can walk in the evening from the Market square to your hotel without needing a body guard.

The rooms are reached by galleries around the spectacular Atrium with a glass roof. In this atrium is the restaurant and bar. Although I was on the first floor there was no noise entering my room but maybe I was lucky that there was no party going on during my 4 nights stay. The room was very comfortable. I appreciated the coffee machine in the room because I did not want to pay 80 Pln for a buffet breakfast (the price of a dinner in town!).
My only negative remark is that the lobby has not much seating space for the large number of clients.

Bathtub is Narrow in this Hotel

Bathtub is very narrow, but standard length. Rooms are big. Still have CRT TVs. Difficult to locate the conciege at times. Staff friendly and helpful. Hotel car is Mercedes but small model, don't expect to carry much luggage in it. Get regular airport taxi instead. Would rate as 3 star for western standards, not a 5 star hotel.

Unique Quality: Great View of the river (if you stay on the river side). Allows pets in rooms.

Great accomidations

This place was great 5/5 stars. The staff was really friendly, the rooms were perfect, breakfast excellent and perfect location. I really can't find any fault with this place it lived up to what I expected from the hotel chain.
One more thing the female receptionists at the front were beautiful.
*** Most women in Poland wear the wedding ring on the right finger so look and ask before you dive in.

Unique Quality: Great view of the castle from my room and the morning breakfast was great after a night partying. They also provide a cab service. We used the service to visit the concentration camp an hour and half drive away they take you there and back it cost us I think 80 USD the cab driver was very friendly and helpful. The picture is from the front of the hotel of the castle.

At castle hill foot soon!

Sheraton Krakow hotel was under construction in OCtober 2003 but almost complited. As all Sheraton hotels it will be rather high standart hotel and surely not cheap, I am sure about it.

The best location in Krakow - just by Wawel Hill will surely make Sheraton popular among tourists and... businessmen.
Hmm... I can't accept modern and simple architecture of Sheraton building located among old houses. Am I right?

Unique Quality: All 4-star hotel facilities including a covered pool.

More about Sheraton Krakow Hotel

Officially opens on June 24, 2004!

by Sharrie about Sheraton Krakow

This latest addition of the Sheraton chain of hotels to Poland was "unofficially" doing business since Apr. 30, 2004.

I stayed here for 2 nights in its first week of operation.
The only 5* hotel in Krakow. Yes, the only one!
It's expensive by world standard. Euro 165 ++ per night.
Although new, it's not that fantastic.
Due to no competition from most of the high-end accommodations in Poland, you will find it higly expensive here. Somewhat like Russia's hotels.
Naturally, there are cheaper alternatives, but that's in the lower end of the market.
I checked on it's 4 stars accommodations & they are neither cheap... Radisson & Holiday Inn charge only 10-15% cheaper.

Two complaints I made to the hotel. One was rectified.
1) No waste-paper basket (dustbin, or whatever you called it) in the bathroom!
Now, for Euro 165++, I expect a dustbin!!!
No excuse for that even if it's a new hotel!
2) No creamer even though there is coffee-maker in the room.
This one was not rectified! The design of the hotel is very much like that of Sheraton, Guilin, China. The one in Guilin is very old & run-down. So, I somewhat have a glimpse of that & I don't think I'd like this hotel when it ages.

Hotel includes buffet breakfast but the scrambled eggs were the worst I've ever tried!
Not a bad choice of other breakfast items. Just not my type of food. Lots of breads & cheese & hams, etc...

Sheraton Krakow is located very close to Wawel Castle & facing the river. Not bad location but about 10 mins walk from the Old City. I enjoyed the walk at this time of the year though.

No, I didn't go to the pool but I assumed there is one in a 5* hotel.
The room is standard size & has a safe (that's what I need). Laptop safe (that's what they say, I don't carry a laptop on vacation ;-)) & high speed internet connection in room.

If you use the hotel taxis to get to the railway station, take note it charges double the rate you take from the railway station. I was charged PLN 30! But when I arrived, the driver from the railway station only charged me PLN 15. This is a small matter compared to the room rate. So, no big deal. Taxis are cheap relatively to European standards.

If I return, I probably won't be returning here unless the hotel begins to charge less. SAS Radisson is about 5 mins away & closer to the Old City but without views.

Hotel staff is friendly but not informative enough. I asked some questions about getting to Zakopane by public transport & all they could tell me was how to get there by hotel taxi! I guess most guests who stay here will not rely on public transportation? ;-)
The receptionist did recommend a wonderful Polish restaurant though.

5star quality and service

There were 2 of us travelling and due to flight times etc we arrived late evening at the hotel. Unfortunately when booking I had inadvertently asked for a twin room rather than a double and the staff were extremely helpful in sorting this problem out, particularly considering the fact that they were fully booked that evening. The bedroom was large and spacious and this is normal standard for the Sheraton Krakow.
For the 3 days that we were there I must give this hotel a 5 star rating in all aspects-food, location, friendliness, quality etc etc.
A truely enjoyable stay and I would have no hesitation in recommending it to others, particularly as I would be classified as a very fussy person.

Great hotel

by TripAdvisor Member NewTraveler1

Wanted a nice place to stay in Krakow, and this was great. The walk from the train station was a little long (25 minutes?). And you have to walk maybe 10 minutes to get to the main square. Other than that, beautiful rooms. Very good breakfast. And the staff was really friendly and helpful.

Great Hotel

I was in a group staying at the Cracow Sheraton in December. It isa one year old first class Western style hotel. The rooms were great, staff friendly and helpful, bedding luxurious and all in all an enjoyable experience

Great hotel with amazingly helpful staff

by A TripAdvisor Member

Clean modern hotel minutes from the sights of the old town. The rooms are typical for a Sheraton - in that respect this hotel could be anywhere.

What stands out for me is the staff. Nothing was too much trouble. We stayed for a long weekend and had researched places we wanted to see, restaurants to eat in and so forth. Even before we arrived the guest team had secured reservations for us in the restaurants we chose, organised a minibus to take us out to Birkenau, arranged an english speaking guide to the death camps and provided us with fee maps.

Nothing was too much trouble and they even had lists of all the gay bars and clubs with recommendations as to which were the most popular.

From airport you can go to bus-station or railway station in centre of Katowice and from there you can get to Krakow by bus or train.
There is good connection between these cities.

Have a nice trip and build your travel pages on VT:))

Thank you for the information on transport from the airport, but how do I get to my hotel (the new Sheraton on the other side of the city), easily? Is there a direct tram or would a taxi be best?

Re: Re: Katowice Airport - Krakow and Krakow - Katowice Airport

by henrykkanada

A taxi would be the most convenient, a short ride from the train station. Bus 124 stops near Sheraton Krakow (Ul Powisle 7), Jubilat stop. See for bus route schedule and stops:
http://rozklady.mpk.krakow.pl/aktualne/index.php
Also here is a map of the city center: http://krakow-info.com/driving.htm
Ul Powisle starts near P block above purple zone B instructions.
