3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Agradable y céntrico / Nice and in the centre

Do not panic at the entrance of the corridor leading to Tango House, because once you enter and get to the reception where you find first very nice and helpful people and then a Bed & Breakfast , with good and spacious rooms , brightly colored, with kitchen and with music that lets you listen all the time tangos
It is very central and the only problem is that you have to take your bags by the staircase because there is not lift

THE MEDIEVAL TOWER

I stumbled across this interesting place when I was looking at hotels with Matcrazy and his wife Urszula. From the outside there are some small signs mentioning a café with Wi-Fi and some mention of historical origins. You walkthrough a small courtyard to find a small trendy café and the very friendly staff. They explained that the accommodation is actually in a 16-century tower and was Krakow's first public bathhouse. It is a real slice of Krakow history.

We were led up a fantastically steep set of wooden stairs and in the semi-dark we could see ancient murals painted underneath the stairs and the oldest murals on the inside of the top of the tower. I am sure that the stairs have been replaced a few times since the 1500’s and the murals probably ‘restored’ more than once, but this is a real piece of history. At the top are the different rooms, all modernised completely.

They have 8 double rooms with bathroom, tea/coffee facility, cable TV, wi-fi, and hairdryer. An iron and ironing board can be requested. They also have several family rooms with a kitchen. If you do not have a laptop, they will let you use one for free in the café downstairs.

The location is both its blessing and curse. It is less than a stone’s throw form the main Market Square. Reviewers report that in the hotter months the windows must stay open which lets the noise form all the late night bars nearby disturb guests. If you are a sound sleeper – go for it.

Warning: This accommodation is only suitable for people able to climb a lot of extremely steep stairs.

Unique Quality:
* Right at the main Market Square
* A very historical buiilding
* Gets great reviews
* Free wi-fi and laptop use
