My Photos Around Zakopane...
by coceng
Zakopane sits at an altitude of 800 to 1000 meter.
Sitting at the foot of Mt. Giewont, which is part of the High Tatras Mountain Range.
Still on top of Mt. Gubalowka, I wandered off a bit.
Saw this traditional house ! It's not a house actually, it could be an eaterie or just a hut.
It seems Zakopane has many this kind of traditional structures around the area.
This is good as they (the houses) preserve the tradition for people like me (a tourist) to see.
Not far off

Since my hotel was a few blocks off of Krupowki, I walked back and forth a few times and usually cut through this peaceful little park that you can find if you locate the Hotel Litwor. Walk up Krupowki, hang a right on the little street that goes to the hotel and just beyond the hotel, you'll find this peaceful spot. Everytime I walked by there were people sitting and enjoying the weather or kids playing basketball or just hanging out.

Krupowki and the streets next to it are full of restaurants of different kinds. The most popular are regional and other polish restaurants bur there is also McDonals there. Well, I think there is something for everyone. You shouldn't miss GOFRY - kind of pastry with different fruits, whip cream, chocolate... whatever you want. In summer they are sold everywhere, really, there is some place selling them on every corner.
Kasprowy Wierch

The location of Kasprowy Wierch almost in the middle of the Tatra Mountains' range offers the possibility to admire the Tatra Mountains and to do one of the most beautiful sports - skiing and snowboard.
In addition to the cabin railway running all year long especially for skiers there are also two chair-lifts in a valley of Goryczkowa and Gąsienicowa.
Mount Gubalowka

At the lower end of ul Krupowki just passed the market, you'll find the funicular to Mt. Gubalowka, apparently a great place for skiing. I was here in early October, so skiing wasn't an option and I chose to hike some other places, but the funicular makes it easy to get to the top. During the warmer months, it runs every day and cost 14 zl for the roundtrip. If you click on the picture, you'll see another shot I took just to the left of the funicular station. Lots of people were going by foot up the mountain, which looks like a pleasant hike.
