Go by train from Bratislava to Spisska Nova Ves and stay over night there at the accommodation “Privat Katarinka - Spisska Nova Ves”.

Next day in the morning go by bus from Spisska Nova Ves to Zakopane in Thursday or Saturday at 6 o’clock.

Privat Katarinka - Spisska Nova Ves:

Travel Tips for Zakopane

Tatra National Park

by Maggies

The diversity of the Tatra nature has been protected for a long time and Tatra National Park (Tatrzanski Park Narodowy) was established here in the 50ties.
Visitors of the Tatra National Park must comply with the special regulations. They are allowed to move along the fixed marked routes (their total length amounts to nearly 250-km), they are not allowed to put up tents or camp and they are forbidden to set fires. They are not allowed to make noise, frighten away animals, pick up plants or collect the produce of nature. They can't bring along dogs, or cats. Sports such as skiing, paragliding, cycling and climbing can be practised in the marked out places and regions. Well, that's the price we have to pay if we want to save the nature. There are some plants that you can't see anywhere else but here.

Rusinowa Polana

by zaffaran

A nice place to sit and rest or have a picnic is Rusinowa Polana The best way to reach it is to go by bus (Polana Palenica/Morskie Oko direction) and get off at Wierch Poroniec. Then follow the path up the hill. After 45 mins you'll reach Rusinowa Polana. It has a wonderful view over the mountains

Traditional

by Maggies about Stek Chalupa

This restaurant with interesting regional interior is located just on Krupowki street. Stek Chalupa means Steak Cottage, well, the steaks are pretty good here and the rastaurant itself looks like old cottage. You have variety of grilled meat, sausage or fish to choose from.

Giewont

by Aggie_K

Here with a view at one of the most popular peaks in the area - Giewont. The legend has it that it's a sleepig knight who'll wake up and defend the country when needed. If you look carefully, you'll see him!

Ski Resort "Mala Tatranska"

by aroundtheglobe

A local told me this would be the best "resort" around Zakopane. Indeed, there were a few lifts, one of them very new and quick. Still there is only one really large slope. The slope is flat and good for beginners. Personally I preferred Kasprovy Wierch.
