No one answered yet?
I was in Tatry with children last Sunday. I don't sleep in Zakopane-I prefer Rzepiska or Bukowina(if you are interested in it- I can find the adresses)- but I travel by car.Zakopane still hasn't been full yet (except Krupowki- always full). There is a pretty relevant tourist information close to the bus station.I don't trust people with boards (perhaps my fault)- rooms to let- full of them close to the station.Mountain hostels looks still not full (I saw one mountain hotel on Kalatówki)- I think that this is cheap and convenient option for hikers (however not necessary Kalatówki- as it's a bit more expensive).
I slept few times at Koscielisko/Zakopane border (far from the center) on ul.Czajki the owner name Katarzyna Stopka-Gadeja.

I suggest www.moszczeniczanka.com.pl
hat hotel is situated about 1 km from the main shopping street- Krupówki.
Our Guests have 55 accomodation places at their disposal in single and double rooms, and also in rooms for three, four and six persons. We also have rooms of higher standard ( with bathroom and sattelite TV, internet ) and a suite with terrace with the wonderful view at the Giewont Mountain.

Travel Tips for Zakopane

Wooden architecture

by Maggies

Zakopane is not only beautiful mountains, environment, highlanders and their culture. It's much more about it.
The wooden architecture is one of its kind and it also shows you special character of the city.

Side roads

by Maggies

Taking side roads, short cuts around Zakopane gives you amazing views. The roads are winding up higher and higher, all covered in snow and you just feel like it was fairy tale, sooo charming.

Btw, it's pretty smart to put chains on the wheels when driving these roads.

Perfect for the active or the lazy!

Feeling Active????

In the WINTER just head straight up Gubalówka cable car to try your hand at some beginners snowboarding, skiing, snow mobiling, tobogganing, sleigh rides everything you can think of that involves snow, ice and alot of energy.
Experienced skier ? Just head to Kunice to catch the cable car 20 minutes up the mountain called Kasprowy Wierch (about 2000m above sea level) for some seriously good runs and even some excellent off - piste.
In the SUMMER head up Gubalówka cable car for some walks, amazing views and even some lugeing.
Or head up Kasprowy Wierch or Morksie Oko for some excellent abseiling, mountaineering, hiking, etc. There is even white water rafting in summer.

Feeling Lazy????

Take a stroll down the stunning main shopping street or through the market. Explore the local wooden churches or take a relaxing horse and carridge ride or just sit at one of the many outdoor pubs/restaurants sipping very reasonably priced and good tasting pints.

For a Great View - All Year Around

by tpal

Zakopane is best know as a ski and winter sports resort. I, however, was there in early August and found it to be amazingly active. The ski slope was green and the Funicular ran regularly and full. You stand all the way up as the cars were apparently designed with skiers in mind. The trip up is great fun but the payoff is at the top. Fantastic views. Also, interesting local eateries including walk away open pit shish kabobs.

The Parish Church...

by coceng

Zakopane is a beautiful hilly town just below The Tatras.
It is the most famous mountain resort in Poland where the locals & even tourists like to go to do many activities especially during winter & summer.
This photo taken by me is The Parish Church on the ul Krupowki street.
It's neo-Romanesque; Built at the end of the 19th century.
