Hi!
Both cities are great. But I would recomend Lublin. It is more easy to get to Lublin by train. And Lublin is bigger city, has also lots of sights. Good for trip from Warsaw. You can stay in Lublin overnight and in second day visit Zamosc - renaissance pearl, town listed to UNESCO:)
Choose Lublin!!:)

Wroclaw is much too far for a side-trip. I suggest Lublin and Kazimierz Dolny on your way there. Or Lowicz, Tum and Arkadia to the west of Warsaw (see my pages to find out if you like them) There are many other possibilities but it all depends on the means of transport available to you.

flip a coin...but if it was me i'd go to poznan...has much more to offer and many train connections too!

I considered Poznan e Wroclaw, but the issue is that I'm taking a train, and to lose more than 6 hours to go and come back for a side trip is more than I wanted.
My first idea was Torun, but now... I think I'll choose Lublin, with this possible side-side trip to Kazimierz Dolny (by bus, isn't it?).
Any other opinion? :-)
I thank you all.

I didn't realise you were taking a train. To get to Kazimierz Dolny you'd have to change for a bus in Pulawy or just take a bus directly from Warsaw. You may like it so much that you may decide not to continue with your trip and stay there till you have to go back to Warsaw. It has some great restaurants, the river, beautiful views, lovely country walks. The only problem is that getting there is not that easy. The buses are not too frequent. If you'd rather use the train only, it's either Lublin or Torun.(You've been to Krakow, haven't you?) It's for you to decide. Both are interesting.

Travel Tips for Warsaw
The Old Town Curiosities
by evaanna
The Old Town abounds in attractions. Apart from its numerous, as elegant as expensive, shops and restaurants, you can encounter buskers, artists and art students selling their paintings or self-made jewelry, a girl selling bunches of violets for gentlemen to present to their lady-friends and even ....Death himself. Or was that young man (he revealed his face for a moment) impersonating a monk? All of them, though not the beggars whom you can also meet there, add to the charm of this delightful place.

Museum of Arts and Culture
by dlandt
This hated building is a common sight from many places in Warsaw. It is a huge building built by the Soviet Union to match the similar buildings in Moscow. People aren't supposed to like this building very much, as it reminds them of the Soviet occupation that they endured for so long.
Photography, dancing, music live and more
by matcrazy1
Well, a few reflections related to the pictures (open the next 4, please):
1. A camera is one of a must bring to the VT-meeting for almost every VT-er, right? So, excuse, whenever you decide to attend any VT-meeting you have to be prepared to be photographed by the others, never mind you like it or not. I don't like it since I gained additional 20 kg doing nothing (= writing my VT-pages), but what to do lol!
2. When the musicians came to our room Brad had a crazy dance (Polish one?) with Aleksandra vel Ola. You can see the amused spectators (from left): Ewa (Memmi), Rusket with her famous mascot Elge, Natalia (napi_pl) and Piotr (ZiOOlek) making a picture.
3. The other spectators of the dance were sitting by the table (from the bottom): Tom (koala_bearPL), Rasmus (Razmatec), Adam (gale.blog.pl) and Rafal.
4. Claus (cachaseiro) had a slower dance with Tasia watched by Urszula (matcrazy0)
5. Most folks who came to the meeting had never met before in real life. That's why our room in the restaurant was signed by these signs of the meeting. Additionally, some crazy VT-ers including me publicize their old look in VT-passport picture thus they may be not recognized correctly in real life haha. Mine was taken in 1996 in Malta, that was over 9 years before and... 20 kg back :-).
Food-Cheese cakes
by belgradegirl
If you decide to buy a cheese cake in a Polish bakery, you may be surprised to find that it is SWEET! (At least that is what I was: in my culture it is quite an unusual combination!)
However, don`t worry- the taste is good!
