Welcome to Camera hostel (new name)

    by

I travel with organized tour so I didn't choose or book this hostel. I am very satisfy with accommodation. It is very clean and so close to the center of city.

Unique Quality: The interior is very interesting with film posters and that is their theme. I be in 12 person room call horror section. The room, kitchen and toilet are well maintained.
The are two computer with internet access, cable TV, free coffee and tea (24h), free guidebooks and city maps, etc.

    What a hostel should be.

    by

This hostel, taking up the third and fourth floors of a building on ul. Jasna just south of the Old Town are, is to my way of thinking almost exactly what a hostel should be like. The dorm rooms are clean, light, and well-furnished, with sturdy, comfortable bunk beds and lockers for each bed (no paying extra for a padlock either!). There's a really nice common room which includes a small kitchen - you can cook your own food on the hob or in the microwave, and there's a fridge freezer to store it all in; there are tables to eat at, and a lounge area with sofas, a TV, DVD player and even a Playstation. There's a small selection of books, mostly guidebooks which are quite handy, and a few board games etc to play. There are also two computers with internet access at reception.
And best of all - breakfast is included! Cereal, milk, bread, butter, jam/honey/chocolate spread, and of course tea and coffee. I can't think of anything else a hostel should have!

The only downside is that they request you to leave the building between 11am and 4 pm to allow for cleaning, which seems an excessive amount of time.

I booked through hostelworld, but I was advised at reception to book directly with them in future so they don't have to pay the commission. It's 39 złoty for a bed in a 12-bed dorm.

Directions: From the train station turn left up Aleje Jerozolimskie, turn left onto Marszalkowska, right at Macdonalds onto Swietokrzyska, then left onto ul Jasna - you'll see the hostel from the junction, on your right.
