What's going on WAW airport in September ??

by freland

I found out the ap will be closed September weekends,
but where actually the planes will land ??
The airlines keep selling tickets to/from WAW, but do not provide any information about the changes !!!

They won't be landing because for the 3 weekends they won't be coming. Simple as that as they are NOT selling tickets for the weekends that the airport will be closed. Check out LOT for the 4/5th of September, you can't buy a ticket. So next time you post get the information correctly before you post.

it is all about that - get the correct info

THank you for your reply,
as the links I provide are 1-2 days old,
I just checked EXpedia- for WAW-BCN-WAW 5-11.09 -you can book the flights + seats of LH, LX, KLM, TAP...
CHecked LH and LOT websites - the same.
I imagine the flights will be cancelled or diverted to another airport (but which one ?)
Did you get any notice of the reason why?
What ap did you try to book for ?

I hope it helps.

THanks a lot , Anna
I see the airport published the plan
http://www.lotnisko-chopina.pl/content/news/en/news.php?id=799
but it is a bit problem getting the info from the carriers - where the flights will be diverted and how much time it adds to the travel

Travel Tips for Warsaw

Snow in Warsaw

by mightywease

A raw, threatening day seemed an apt backdrop to the poignancy of the Monument to the Ghetto Heroes and the Path of Remembrance.

The snow when it started came vertically, pricking at exposed skin like a mass of thrown pins. Refuge was found in Café Blikle on Nowy Swiat with chocolate torte and liqueur coffees, watching people enter, front half blown white, back untouched like one of the iced biscuits you might find on the menu.

Walking into the Castle Square there are memories of a past winter when snow shrouded the toppled Zygmunt III Column and rubble of the Royal Castle. Winter is a constant but destruction yielded to restoration and now the buildings stand again, snow blessed and proud

I was on a couple of restaurants, but it was my friend that guided me to the places, so unfortunaly I don't know the names of them I miss mostly the kindness from the people I met there and I miss the the friend I have in Warsaw.
I also misses the walks around in the city and parks.

Lazienski park and Palac na Wodzie. It has been built since 1683 until 1690.Durning the second world war it has been totally destroyed and then rebuilt. Now the palace is part of the national museum, and the rooms inside are an amazing visit for sure.

Local Food Vendors

by al_mary

We saw alot of streetside vendors,
especially food vendors.

We found the pastery and other
offerings they had to be fresh and
really tasty.

We recommend that you pick up a
few things to snack on while you are
out and about, or take whatever you
get back to your hotel, or like in our
case, our apartment, because we had
a fridge.
