Great location and hotel but expensive

I would recommend this hotel for someone who wants to stay in a good 4-star hotel in the heart of the old town, especially for a snobish or romantic soul who likes beautiful views through a room window and who is ready to pay a lot for it (or has a good sponsor).

Damn the price! When I was desperately looking for a hotel in Gdansk just 2 days before my trip I paid attention to this hotel although the price was too high for my budget. The best location among only a few centrally located hotels encouraged me to call them. But I heard again: "Sorry, no vacancy for 2 months for that Friday night. You know, we have a concert of Jean Michel Jarre." or something those lines. It's a pity although I saved a lot.

Being in Gdansk I passed by this hotel a few times. Hmm... its modern exterior among old facades of neighbouring houses along the Long Waterfront (Dlugie Pobrzeze) hasn't met perfectly my expectations and requirements for renovation of old buidings and historic preservation.

Unique Quality: ADVANTAGES
1. Location and again location
Take/book a room with a window over the Long Waterfront (Dlugie Pobrzeze) to amaze very charming view over the Motlawa River with ships and boats and old granaries across the river. Look down if you like to watch people. Well, the pedestrian street below is quite busy but not very noicy at night. There are many pubs and restaurants withing a walking distance, just downstairs. The area is safe for fans of nightlife who love to come back to the hotel in the middle of a night.

2. Other guests (for snobs :-)
Various VIPs used to stay there. For example Gerhard Schroeder - former Chancellor of Germany, and Margaret Thatcher, former Prime Minister of the UK, stayed in this hotel. You might like them or not...

DISADVANTAGES
1. Price
Well, 695 zl (174 euros) per room for two is a lot as for Poland even for a fancy, 4-star hotel at best location. Gdansk needs more competition in hotel business. I can't wait for more centrally located hotels which would force their owners to limit profits (or their costs) and lower the prices. Just like it had already happened in Krakow.

2. Other guests (their bodyguards :-)
The top security during stay of various VIPs may be inconvinient for you unless you like bodyguards.

Great location, very modern

This is a very nice hotel right in the city center and on the river. I got a discounted walk-in rate.

Unique Quality: Right on the river.
