Gdynia
A view from the pier

All around in Gdynia you could feel Soviet being – actually because of architecture of buildings. It is usual not only in this region, but also former Warsaw pact countries and post-communist countries as Lithuania, Ukraine and so on.
In the period when Germany owned the region then known as East Prussia and Gdansk was German -Danzig, Poland had to construct a deep sea outlet to the Baltic.(Danzig was a "free" city under the auspices of The League of Nations.) That outlet was accessible via the Polish Corridor and its port was named Gdynia.
It is situated west of Gdansk and east of Sopot.
That coastal region is a harvesting place for lovely Amber. Amber, of course is fossilised sap from pine trees. Sometimes complete with trapped insects inside. It must be worked up to its saleable lustre and shape.
It is one of the rare pieces of adornment which is of organic origin. As are pearls. (And something else ??)

A: "There are plenty of suburban trains between Gdynia and Gdansk, but not from Gdynia port, as far as I know."
