I do not remember the name of the hotel we stayed in, but again, I vividly remember the place. It was a huge Communist block structure in the centre of town, modern and impressive for a 1976 provincial town in Poland.
What impressed me even more was the room we were given. It was VAST - I could have fitted my whole 2-bedroomed London apartment into this one room. It had a cocktail bar, a dining table and chairs for 6 people, A TV and refrigerator, and a double bed that 6 could easily have fitted into. My mother, small son and I were lost in it. And the bathroom - well this was more like a swimming pool! It seemed to take five minutes to cross from one side to the other. And the cost of all this for the three of us? US$18! And that was very expensive at the time!
Prices now start at US$59 for a double room.
Unique Quality: Well things have changed now - it is 26 years after all. The hotel still looks as I remember it (maybe a bit cleaner), but the prices are somewhat different, as are the facilities. But I'm sure the rooms are still huge!
