Katowice Airport to Train to Ostrava Czech Republic

by cvscott

I am trying to get from Katowice airport (Wizz flight) to Katowice train station in the afternoon for a train to Ostrava. What is the easiest way to get between the two? Is there a train or direct bus? Thanks!

the travel takes almost 2 hours and there should be 3 direct trains between Ostrava and Katowice and viceversa
you can book the bus from airport to Katowice here

btw Ostrava has its own airport

I assume you've found a budget flight from Venice to Katowice? Better idea than train, imo.

The airport website has public transport info in English:

There are regular buses to the railway station, taking around 50 minutes.

Thank you. I have flights leaving Ostrava but they were $600 to get from venice to Ostava and $25 to get to Katowice, thus the detour....We are going for a wedding and there are 4 of us. Should be fun!

Travel Tips for Katowice

Modern metropolis

by Leipzig

To be honest, the city is rather unattractive for tourism, unless you are interested in modern architecture and post-communist transformation processes. Everey here and there you can stumble upon some nice buildings of the Founder Time (built around 1900).

Grey City...?

by ZiOOlek

Katowice is said to be a grey city... Maybe it is one of the less colorfull city in Poland but during summer months you may find some good examples of places that are full of colors... I love such places and visit them often.:) In the picture you may see a carpet of flowers just in the main market square...

Ice-rink Jantor

by ZiOOlek

Everyone how is fond of ice - skating or ice - hockey or other sports connected to ice should come here. You can use the rink to have fun for yourself or watching matches. The rink is pretty new and modern.
