Happenings - I
by Jawnuta
Lately as the money from European Union is flowing to our city there are more interesting events than when I was growing up in Szczecin.
During summer 2010 we saw the event that was supposed to commemorate what russian army did to our city at the end of the IIWW.
Supposedly they took all the concert pianos they could find and throw them away / took them to Moscow - not sure which.
See the photos of little happening that was supposed to commemorate that event.
St. Jakub Fiesta
by Jawnuta
Every year Szczecin celebrates St. Jakub day.
At front of Cathedral local merchants put their stands with food, beer, arts and crafts.
During summer 2010 we had no luck with the weather. It was pouring rain but we still managed to get some draft beer and purchase smoked sausages, cheese and bread.
Too bad there was no smoked fish or any fish at all - after all Szczecin was the second biggest ship yard in Poland and it's history has always been about Baltic Sea and Zalew Szczecinski.
The Tall Ships' Race 2007 in Szczecin
by sprdak11
The city Szczecin was the organizer of the final of 2007 Tall Ships' Race - the Race and Regatta of Big Sailing Ships. About 6 thousands of sailors visited the city and approximately over 2 millions of tourists.
It took place from 4 to 7 August 2007.
Take a look at my genaral tips about Szczecin to see the huge collection of photos.
Here you can watch some movies I've made during the Tall Ships' Races in my town:

Wkrzanska Woods - great place for leasure
by J4r0
Wkrzanska Woods begins at the very north of Szczecin, in Glebokie district, but its part reaches almost to the heart of the city, ending with Kasprowicza Park and Jasne Blonia (Bright Greens). It's really the great place for cycling and walking - you can go, for example, around Lake Glebokie, then take a tour at the small and quiet streets of Glebokie and, finally, cycle straight to Kasprowicza Park to finish your excursion at the feet of City Hall. When the weather is fine, you may find many people enjoying their freetime there. Bike (if cycling) or good shoes (if walking) would be enough :)
Jezioro Szmaragdowe (Emerald Lake)
by Dagon
Very nice like. Great place for walking - there is nice path around the lake.
The lake is situated quite near to the road connecting Szczecin and Gryfino. It's still in the bourders of Szczecin :)
