Bosman Beer

by martijnpbosman

Hi, My name is Martijn Bosman and i live in The Netherlands. Over here there is no Bosman beer available and no merchandise of Bosman, too.
Does anyone know where to look on the internet ?
I wrote to the brewery several times, but got no reply.
Maybe someone from Szczecin can help me....
Thank you,
Martijn Bosman

In the US I can't find Bosman anywhere. I can usually get what ever I want but that. It's one of my favorites. Good luck finding some.

xdescendx, are there Polish beers in US?

Hi All,

Bosman is considered to be a "local" beer, so you'll be able to buy it in Szczecin and its neighbourhood... I think it would be hard to find it anywhere else...

Sure there are plenty of polish beer in US. Just go to any town where there is a POlish community. Every bigger city in US has polish deli where you can buy polish beer.

Re: Bosman Beer

There are 2-3 varieties of Polish beer that seem to be relatively common here... they only one I can think of off the top of my head is (and forgive me if I don't spell it right) Zyweics or something like that. I know I've seen another but don't remember what it is called. You won't find them in your normal grocery store, but they can be found in a decent package store.

Re: Bosman Beer

Ah, Tyskie was the other one I was thinking about... :-)

Sihi

I can get the following on a regular basis:

Zywiec & Z porter
Okocim
Harnas (not too good)
Black Boss (Witnica)
Tyskie
Hevelius
Lezajsk Pelne

I'm sure there are some more, but I don't know all of the names. These are just the ones that I've picked up.

I live in New York area and I can find almost any Polish beer in Polish grocery stores (well more than 10 brands), also just regular (american) beer store in my area have typical Polish beers as Zywiec, Okocim, Tyskie, etc.
I can also find many special edition beers like Zywiec Porter and other various dark beers.
Beers I could find here are: EB, Dojlidy (Magnat & Zubr), Hevelius (Kaper and Classic),Lezajsk, Okocim Beer, Okocim Harnas, Okocim Malt, Okocim Palone, Piast, Warka, Lomza, Zywiec, Zywiec Porter and few more.
I strongly recomand Okocim Palone (the one with flames on the bottle) it is a medium body, medium dark beer, light enough to be great for summer if you want something better. It is available in US since last year.

Travel Tips for Szczecin

The iron cross

by J4r0

If you happen to arrive to Szczecin in the late October, you should stay for the All Saints' Day (1st November). It's part of Polish tradition to go visit the graves of your relatives on that very special day. In the evening, the Central Cemetery in Szczecin shines like a precious stone - there are that much of candles at the graves.

Next to the Cemetery second gate at Karola Miarki Street, there's a huge iron cross. Each year on All Saints' Day, Szczeciners gather there, lighting candles in memory of people who died in riots in December 1970, when anti-communist protest broke out in the city. 16 people, killed by militia, were buried near this place.

If you're in Szczecin on 1st November, go there in the evening, light a candle and think about people who had to die back then so that Poland and Eastern Europe could become free.

You'll get there by tram no. 8 or bus no. 67 (Karola Miarki stop)

Salsa under "Tree Eagles" in Szczecin

by sprdak11

If you like to dance salsa, it's a tip for you. In Szczecin there are a few good schools of this sort of dancing, also some clubs specialise in this sort of music. Some salsa dancers have a custom to gather each Friday at 8 p.m. from April til September at Jasne Blonia under "the Monument of Tree Eagles" and dance. Everone can join.

Jarmark Anny i Boguslawa
The 2nd Anna and Boguslaw’s Fair.
This year 2005 it took place in August.

Anna and Boguslaw are the names of prince couple who once owned Pomeranian Dukes' Castle and ruled in the Pomerania.
This fair is something new in Szczecin. In 2005 it was organised for the second time.
The description sounds interestingly:

"The 2nd Anna and Boguslaw’s Fair shall be opened by solemn wedding cere-mony of Anna and Boguslaw that will take place at the Boguslaw’s Promenade. After the wedding ceremony the wedding procession will pass along Szczecin streets heading for the courtyard of the Castle of the Pomeranian Dukes.24-25.08The Sabbath soirées i.e. Concerts of Jewish Songs.26.08 The concert by the invited guests and actors of the Polish Theatre.27.08 Culinary Show featuring stars of the Polish cuisine , the Polish Theatre performance.28.08 The gala concert featuring performers from the Piwnica pod Baranami [Cellar under Rams] and actors of the Polish Theatre, ending the II nd Anna and Boguslaw’s Fair."
